So, what are you working on right now?

both are darkmod tex. Whats wrong with the bumpmap? I think they look fine. Not that there is strong lighting in that view anyway.

It looks like an automatically generated normalmap through something like crazybump. The cracks between the bricks are recognized somewhat fine, but if you look a little closer, the stones are wavy and show varying smoothness and depth. This is especially noticeable at steeper vieweing angles.

Here a more light shot of this texture from exterior, in my opinion this is really a great texture because it realy work well with lights, if the textures where more deep i really not use it.

All work is very WIP for now, and the castle its in some kind on a stage of decay, where some strange experiences took place. Its not abandoned, but some areas will be closed to guests, and some areas will be cursed where some activity research will be on...and other areas completly closed to anyone.

Thats my idea, lets see if i can put it in the mission.

Never underestimate the players skills :P

Now, it's just that loading times are faster that way and I have a very limited connection speed.

hehe its fine, I may skip this contest. I don't have enough free time or more importantly the motivation to build a new mission atm.

  • As it is I am getting close to releasing the tweaked and 1.08 updated version of Alberics curse, which along with Business as Usual also has new places to explore, difficulty level and eye candy..
  • Then ERH and myself are just applying the finishing touches to the massively updated and improved Crystal grave.
  • And then I have Elixir which, still needs the half built manor finishing and nbohrmore to flesh out his awesome storyline for it.
  • Then there is the mission I'm working on with Baal, the most is mostly built, we are just working on an extension to the map to help flesh out the story a tad.
  • When all of the above is done I have the White-Rose to try and work on along with a story and objectives.
  • And the lastly the continued work on the campaign, recently of which Fidcal has built and awesome machine which is a site to behold!

Lol...I was thinking exactly the same. Its not the same visual impact, but for the health of your connection and with some research of the forum options i think i could do that.

Well, this is in fact a thread for presenting wip-screenshots. If you don't want to see screenshots, just don't visit this thread. It's as easy as that! :)

The lighting is very good, especially in the second and third shot, with the projection of moonlight! Looking forward to your finished map. :)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Thanks guys for the kind words :-). I've gotten the section where I took those screenshots pretty much up to beta-testing quality (I think), and I'm wondering if anyone would want to do me a favor and take a look at it once the last few bugs are worked out. It represents about 1/3rd of the final planned level, but since I'm new at this I'm worried that there's something big that I've overlooked that will hurt the map down the road, especially performance-related issues.

But you should walk having internal dignity. Be a wonderful person who can dance pleasantly to the rhythm of the universe.

      Bachelor Mapping Challenge!
The girlfriend will be away to her mum's place for almost a week, which means more mapping time for me! I'm planning a speed build. Hope it will go my way
I'm starting by downloading 2.11. Don't know if I'm going to use any fancy new stuff. Just want to crack those itching map muscles that has gone dry and dead since almost a year's worth of no-mapping

The cool part of Canonical's Snap, is that my machine can now ray-trace an entire (simple) scene faster than it takes the web browser to start!

      Fm idea (braindump)
"Experience the life of a mission builder"
Esentially there are finnished elements placed somewhere in storage in the game and you have to place them in the correct places, build some walls here and there, add guard routes, give them their correct speech lines, etc. Decorate the places.. all in-game. lots of fun.. 😉
If you do it right in the end you can play the mission.
(would be even cooler if a thief-ai could play the mission, making it some kind of tower-defence game)

This first started as an idea for an aquarium builder mission where-in you have to fill an empty aquarium with sand, waterplants, castles water and swimming fish. But above idea is more fun.

Dear ChatGPT, What are The Builders in the Dark Mod?

The Builders is a popular game mode in the video game community called "Dark Mod," which is a fan-made tribute to the classic "Thief" series of stealth games. In this game mode, players assume the role of builders who construct structures in a dark and ominous environment while trying to avoid detection by patrolling guards.
The Builders game mode is unique in that it offers players the opportunity to create and design their own levels using the in-game tools and resources provided. Players can experiment with different building materials, construct intricate traps and puzzles, and create their own unique gameplay experiences.
While The Builders game mode is not an official part of the Dark Mod, it has become one of the most popular and well-loved aspects of the game, thanks to its emphasis on creativity, strategy, and stealth.
