Hey Capela,

 

It's the "textures/darkmod/stone/brick/rough_natural_mixed" texture :-). It's one of those interesting textures that looks pretty different in practice than it does as a thumbnail in the media browser, I would never have thought about using if I hadn't seen it on a prefab building.

But you should walk having internal dignity. Be a wonderful person who can dance pleasantly to the rhythm of the universe.

Speaking of prefabs, i'm just now going through and looking at all the prefabs we have. We can always use more, but there's a pretty good mix of a lot of stuff.

 

@ authors... You can save quite a bit of time picking a couple things here and there from the prefabs.

Looks good, and you seem to map quite fast!

 

I would consider using a blue tone on the ambient light for outside locations. I find black to look a bit dry unless its a smaller interior.

 

Edit: I meant to say a blue tone on "all" outside locations, some are already bluer than others, and those look a lot nicer to me.

@Bikerdude: I don't know what a 'Storte' is (or if I get ever used to the name rape). Anyways, I always betatested my FM's. And if this particular one is ready, you are invited to test this one. :smile:

Be glad that you aren't Grayman. I can't tell you how many times he has been referred to with incorrect vowels or missing consonants... "Fruitcake" would be an improvement

in some of those spelling variants :D

Actually I can't remember why I have choosen to place them there. Maybe I was drunk. :blush:

Another teaser:

 

The least optimized area in the map, I have a couple more portals i can place but it is huge wide open. Still I have 5 guards there chasing me around and fps isn't dropping below 50 (on the pc anyway, my laptop is a bit laggy in most 3d games). (not a lot of details but I think it'll be alright - in this case I'm happy with having a very large area as a trade off for small details). Seems like the 1.08 update really did boost performance quite a bit.

 

if performance seems bad for some systems i might just make easy difficulty performance mode and have a lot of func_statics and models that won't be present.

 

Most of the base terrain is in, have a couple shortcuts and dead end city gates to put in. And the main location, so that'll take a week or so probably. Then it's just improving/aligning textures, adding details, sounds, patrols, objectives, read ables...hmmm, starting to sound like a long way to go ;)

      I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.
