So, what are you working on right now?

Real time? No, unless you model all the leaves individually. But you can simulate it using a decal on the ground, or even a shadow-light...a few missions have done this.

Looks good Capella, I really like how you've set up the sidewalk trim. One recommendation is that you might want to vary the height of the buildings (even by putting a fake elevated roof on one of them) so that the player's eye sees more variety.

Yeah, I'm a newbie mapper, but I really have to credit the community. There hasn't been a single question that I've asked that I wasn't able to get an answer for :-).

Wow well as a fellow newbie mapper I am very jealous of your skills! ;) Also... I cannot wait to play your mission! If you ever need any vocal acting for it I would love to help out :) Just send me a msg with some lines and I will record them for you!

Thanks :-), I'm looking forward to playing The Accountant too! I do have some lines that need to be voiced for the FM, so I'll PM you when the mapping is all done and I've finished up the script.

Actually, is it one mission, or a whole campaign's worth of them? I have seen several great screenshots from Moonbo by now!

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. @ Melan, it's one mission, but it's become pretty large at this point...I just hope Darkradiant doesn't explode on me before I finish mapping everything. @ Sotha I'm hoping to get it into beta testing in about a month (knock on wood).

@Biker, thanks, I tried using "paste shader natural" but I just got a pop-up saying that the patch shape wouldn't allow natural pasting.

@simplen00b, yep those are wood :-), and yes they'll be rope arrows though I've tried to make all mission critical areas reachable by just mantling in case people lose or miss the arrows.

It usually doesn't; you can push the entity and texture counts above the limit the engine/memory can handle, but you have to be pushing really hard.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
