So, what are you working on right now?

Looks interesting and creepy. Can't wait for any of the new FMs coming out.

My only criticism is not really a criticism, just a personal thing. In the first screenshot I'm not a big fan of the glowing crystals (or mushrooms though they're not used here). A lot of people like them so like I said, its a personal thing. I've not used them yet but I believe I would make little "outcroppings" with the crystals sitting on top of them or little "holes" in the wall with the crystals inside so that they're not actually visible. Only the light they produce would be faintly visible to add that lighting effect without looking like Christmas lights... It depends on the angle the player will initially approach the scene though.

Just an idea to make the effect more subtle.

The red windows also in that first screen shot give the scene such a foreboding look and then the crystals kinda remove that feel at least for me. I'm only one guy though so map on! Love the progress you're making, Moonbo. Wish I were as far along.

@Biker, just trying to have enough variety :-).

@Lux I see what you're getting at, but it's too late to change now since I use the whole crystal cave motif throughout the level. I might try varying the light colors though.

But you should walk having internal dignity. Be a wonderful person who can dance pleasantly to the rhythm of the universe.

Well if you are going for a crystal cave motif than stick with it! I obviously wasn't aware of that. As far as light "color" maybe some different shades or tints of the same color? That might add a more natural touch to it.

Some of you will recognize the scene.

Can I say it, "The art of Xcen" or "The Xcen master", but on a serious note its nice to see someone as anal about the details as I am :-D

Very impressive work mister, but what's with making us wait so long for your first mission..?

Verrrry nice work there.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. Not a fan of the colours either, but the caves look good. Wish they were a new mission, though, and not a revision that essentially rebuilds someone else's work.

What about The Elixir?

Nah, looks very good to me.

If you feel inclined to add more geometry, you could make some structures on the wall, say shallow decorative niches or windows (with wide geometry structure to fill a lot of the space).

But like said, that looks good already.

Yep, looks good. You could add some pillars in the room edges or things like mentioned by Sotha. It looks a bit dromed-esque right now ;) (not neccessarily bad, though).

Is the framerate always that low or is this caused by taking the snapshot?

It's the kind of scene I would have built (and in fact), so I guess I like it. ;)

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
