So, what are you working on right now?

Great! You've got a knack for Manor type interiors.

The 4th screen down from the top could use a few stain decals but that's about all I can crit.

Thanks Nbohr, where do you think would be good spots for decals in the room? I'll add some dirt around the floor near the coal pile, but that's the only place that jumps out at me.

There are some elongated stains which look like water damage (etc) one might look good near the drain while you

could also have a few coming down on the walls where they touch the ceiling.

Very good work indeed. On the third shot you should align the stone textures on the wall. Middle mouse click on one surface and shift+middle mouse click on the neighbouring one. Proceed like this. The other approach is to place supports in the cornes to hide the misalignments.

What would add another nice touch, but may cause a lot of additional work, is to let the wooden trims on the walls stand out a bit. This would let the scene look much more plastic. But as said, lot of extra work, so you don't have to do it. :)

Here's a bathroom that I spent building and detailing for the past couple of days. It is one of the most rebuilt rooms in my game (mostly because of the super secret squirrel access via the toilet into the house).

The toilet lid in that shot, is that a patch? I tried doing it in brushes but it looks ugly, so decided to use patches to make it since I can't find a model for it.

Gorgeous bathroom, must've been a pain getting everything aligned.

And some more shots from my current wip -

Are those bookshelves models? I've been searching for days trying to find the bookshelves in the model lists but they don't seem to

be there. Where do you find them?

The toilet lid is a combination of patches and brushes. It's a bit of a pain getting everything looking just right for sure but i'm very happy with how it turned out so it's rewarding in the end. Also that's about the third or fourth version of that bathroom so if you're having problems with ugly brushes just rebuild it and try a different approach, sometimes all you need is just a fresh approach to how you're doing something.. at least thats how I do detailing whenever i'm building.

Bookshelves are either under furniture or decorative/wall.

Thanks for the crits Obs. You're right about the non-extended wood trim not looking as good and I made sure to extend the trim on the subsequent floor that I built, but since it'd be a lot of work and it's not *too* bad as is, I'll leave it that way for now. I will check the texture alignment on those wall brushes though. If you think of anything else, just mention it on the thread :-).

@Moonbo: Those screens look great! Nice and disheveled just like that aught to be.

So still plugging away, this time in making one of the two planned manor wings. I'm still new to building in the manor style, and I've tried to take into account everyone's feedback from my last batch of screenshots, so any more input/crits you guys can think of are greatly appreciated!

Neat angled windows!

to use them in my map. :)

Goldwell, is there a reason why it's so dark in many places of the vid? I'm sure it was intentional,

so that's why I ask.

Hey Venus,

Check out the Penny Dreadful missions by Melan, in the pk4s you'll find a few of those textures (like the carpet ones).

Oh cool... thanks, will look for it. Carpets are a bit of a pain at the moment for me. I'm finding that

the end pieces of the stock runners just don't align with the main piece no matter how I fiddle with it.

So will definitely take a look. Thx :)

BTW I did play the first Penny Dreadful, was a fun mission.

Yeah, for some reason the carpet endings don't match up with the runners. The only use I could ever find for the ending textures for was to take two of them, flip one, and treat them as a single rug.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
