Also don't forget half of that shot is the texture, without it, it would look nearly as good as it does! If you like I take a shot of the same location with out all the effects and fancy texture..?

i also realized that...please give a shot with a normal stone/bricktexture.

still looking good

good yes but far away from the other one...you clearly can realize all geometry...but thats it in modern games, it stands and falls with the textures...thanks Bikerdude

yeah but I think the tdm tex, main brick there is over scaled by 2, which makes the fine details just too big and rough looking.

The arch looks just as good imo.

i think the orgtex is def. a real masterpiece...in TDM are only some of this kind of texture and this arent as goos as this one, also if you scale them down. there are some marble tex which also looks nearly like this one.

I wish I could give a deadline but as this is my first map I'm still learning as I go along. It should be some time this year though.

The second two screenies are good. You seem to understand what makes lighting interesting. :) In the first, I would remove a few windows, especially on the balconies. Old construction tends to have smaller and fewer ones. Also, some variety in elevation (stairs, subtle slopes, even bumps and potholes - there are both simpler and slightly more complex techniques for this) would enhance your construction a lot.

Carry on! :)

Looks good to me, you certainly have nothing to be ashamed of in terms of visual quality.

My favourite is the bar/restaurant interior, it looks interesting. It could use some ceiling beams and maybe some support columns to make it look more medieval. At present it looks rather modern: wide spaces, flat roof...

The exterior shots look nice too. You might want to try and incorporate some deviations to the 90 degree angles to make it look more medieval. At a later detail adding sweep, you might wanna put some patch bumps into the streets to make it look a bit more organic.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words. It's great to have some positive feedback from two master builders (pun intended) such as yourselfs. smile.gif

are you sure you wouldn't like to join our novice mapping campaign we just started, xcen? I think we could squeeze in 1 more. You can use that map you've already started for it no problems.

That's hell of a first try, Xcen! Great use of shadows. Seriously.

Indeed, if you feel like it, it may not be a bad idea. B)

Dammit there are too many missions available now. That's what I get for being away for so long. Such a first-world problem.

The best thing about not mapping more than like every other year is the awesome feeling to see how far TDM has gotten in all appartments. I can just create some parallaxing cobblestones and walk to and fro and just let the jaw drop

Hey, was trying to use the TDM_Update.exe file, but when I do it doesn't do anything! It just goes back to 2.12. I'm trying to run Luitenant 4, but it won't update, so I can't play it. What am I doing wrong?

Been away for quite a long time, didn't have much free time sadly, but the little that I had I was able to play a Romhack for Ocarina of Time called "Sands of Time".
It's great, fun, rather hard but too but I like it (except when it's way too tedious, only some parts are, not all of them)
Although the reason I'm sharing this is...Listen to the music, I've timestamped it to 27:56, it's titled "Memories Lost".
Doesn't it sound so serene, so melodic...So Thief-like? It's fantastic, I love it, it reminded me of Thief and how much I want to get back to it, so hopefully this month or the next, I will have a lot of free time to play it.
I can't wait to try that new big Thief campaign, The Black Parade, it seems to be promising.
No spoilers please, but can someone tell me if it has horror elements? Or better yet, horror mission...Or even missionS?
