Has anyone seen this (or heard of it?)

It's a war movie, I've never had such a big impression left on me by a movie... Here's what the description says:

A feature by Elem Klimov made from the script by Ales Adamovich. It was released in 1985 and ranks among the most horrifying war films. It`s not only about the war of 1941-1945 exactly, but about any war, its devastating force sweeping away the natural course of things. The film is based upon documental facts and `The Khatyn Story` by Ales Adamovich. The authors describe the place and events which became a symbol of national tragedy. The hero of the film is Flyora, a sixteen-year-old boy that turned to the woods to help the partisans. At the beginning he is just a kid. Then he lives through the horror of the Nazi executions and becomes amazingly grown-up, and even old. The war had distorted the once tender childish facial features - it`s all wrinkles now. The altered face of Flyora is the face of War. The authors were so true-to-life, uncompromising and austere as to portray in the centre of the film not some grown-up man, but an unexperienced kid with his childhood still here.

If you liked Apocalypse Now, Das Boot or similar movies I recommend giving this a go. Be forewarned though it doesn't hold back. Things which other movies imply or glorify are absent. There is no hero despite what the description says. The child is a protagonist but there is NO hero which is the opposite of every Western war firlm I've ever seen. It's a magnificent film which I'll likely never watch again because it's too stressful but I think it's worth seeing.

Here's a link to the film:

Note: If you want the full experience buy the dvd.

I tried finding it where I live with absolutely no luck so I watched half on youtube and then the entire thing on DVD.

I saw it a while back and didn't think much to it (not because it was uncompromising). However, I can remember pretty much the entire film really well and it's stuck with me so I should give it another go at some point soon.

If I remember correctly they used live ammunition while filming. That cow ain't CGI.

Yea I read that too :) In Apocalypse Now the cow at the end that's *you know what* isn't fake either.

I don't consider myself one easily moved by movies but in Come and See when Glasha and Flyora:

...go back to Flyora's place and when Glasha finds everyone executed my face went flush red. It's filmed in such an adult and realistic manner compared to what I'm used too.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
