gachaPON 10 the dark mod...?

I can understand quite a bit of it (having studied and lived in Japan).

It's sort of funny, actually. In almost every sentence or 2, there's at least one English word. And if you could get that word, you pretty much know what they're talking about then. If one guy mentions Shinobi, or Thief DS, you know they're making a comparison to that game ... pretty much, "doesn't it remind you of that?". And the other guy says "oh yeah; I get it".

There's like the one head guy describing everything to his friend out of the loop.

So at the start it looks more like a fighting game ... but then more of the sneaking elements come in (staying in shadows and away from AI), so the head guy will notice that it's really "shinikingu" (sneaking) gameplay. Then the friend will "get it" ... it's like Thief.

And then every time some tool is used, the head guy says, so here's the water arrow, it puts out torches to sneak, or here's picking ("pikingu"). And the other guy is like "huh?" for a second, "what do you mean picking" but then sees it on the video when the chest opens and the head guy explains a little more, and says something like, "ok ok, I get it now."

It's really pretty much a narrative of noticing stuff in the FM video as it happens, the head guy saying it, and the other guy saying "Wha..? [watches it then:] oh, ok ok, I get it now." Over and over.

But I didn't catch everything said... Still a bit fast for me!

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Oh, I forgot to mention this here!

This guy/group did a walkthrough for my FM recently too:

I left a nice little comment for him on the 2nd video, just saying Thanks. I was the author. (I learned Japanese living in Nagasaki one year). And that I wanted to do a Japanese translation of this someday, since the story is worth understanding.

I didn't catch much of what he said in this video (it takes a lot of energy to understand Jpnse at my level!). But hopefully one of these days I'll sit down and try to decipher it, then I can share with you guys.

Man, that is hilarious. Two personable Japanese guys having back and forth commentary, set to elevator music. Doesn't get any better than that :)

I've actually been on and off studying a bit of Japanese myself. I will shamefully say that this is because I like to read their manga and play their RPGs (pikingu up Valkyria Chronicles 2 for the PSP off the Japanese PSN store in a few weeks :) ).

By the way, I just got the desktop computer up and running again, so I'll have my first go at The Dark Mod pretty soon! (Well, hopefully, anyway ... Seems Steam won't let me download Doom 3. Whenever I click to activate the game, Steam disables my wireless adapter (And why in god's name would some random userspace application have the authority to mess with such a device? ... then again, this is windows ... )).

That's pretty ridiculous. <_< I have no idea why that would happen. Steam support might be able to help you.

Because it's Windows, obviously. :) In a typical setup (especially home setups), every user account is an administrator, so all programs run with full admin acccess. That's just how it is, unless you use a non-administrator account (which is a total pain) or UAC.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
