Undead, Zombies, Haunts

No, I see undead are set to "can_drown" "0". If you really wanted them to drown for some reason, however, you could change it.

Sorry for highjacking the thread, but I couldn't bring myself to create a new one just for asking about the steam beasts/automatons. Is it likely that some of them will be in the next update? After reading the article in the wiki I can hardly wait to see the crazy apparatuses in action :D

TDM zombies are based on Doom 3 zombies, yes. Springheel has reused the model and the animations and set them up to work with TDM (maybe with some texture edits, I'm not sure). However, they're not identical. There are a lot of differences between how TDM zombies should behave and how Doom 3 zombies behave. :) They take damage differently, they need to use our stealth-game-specific AI systems, they need new sound effects... there's a few bits and pieces to work through before they're TDM-ready.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

thats because some spiders were magical and some were normal spiders, although stabbing them with the sword got rid off them easy just like shooting them with an arrow also did the trick, but if you bothered to edit the spiders you could make them both knockoutable.

Now... you're talking illogical and insane.

Knockout-able spiders... sheesh...please...no way...implauzablee impozzable. ;)

But, seriously. No. You can gas'em or slash'em or shoot'em or even blow 'em up real-good...

But smack'em to sleep?

Nahahahahahah.

Or.

Maybe so.

I am not talking insanity: as strange it might seem, in Thief you can blackjack red spiders but not green spiders.

Maybe it was a mistake of developers, maybe it was intentional... but I tried to blackjack every creature in the game: just for fun.

I think you should be able to knock them: you are an extremely capable thief in a magical steam punk word capable of becoming invisible in the shadow... it does not seems so strange you can knock a spider.

(Darn frogs it is extremely hard to find one easy to blackjack... :S )

You can techncially beat a spider to death with your blackjack, but knocking spiders out is pretty silly.

May I ask why?

Why knocking out a spider is silly? Putting an invertebrate to sleep by hitting it with a bag of lead shot, especially a spider that doesn't have a genuine skeleton and has a simple nerve clump as a brain, seems silly to me. YMMV.

I love this! It's like Christians arguing over where the spikes (nails!) went in Jesus' (Christ's!) hands & feet (wrists! &! ankles!); Trekkies at odds over some incidental alien language interpretation; or the earlier convo about Haunts and flashbombs...

No logic need be applied, really.

Time for the Garlic Bomb???

Personally, I'd take a Benny Bomb under any such circumstances, but a Garlic Bomb might come in handy if you stumble upon a kitchen and want to spice up a deer leg.

Also what is tough about knocking out a spider, is what ganglia do you hit? They have numerous ones ("brains") , hitting the wrong one prob wont help.

What is cool is some spiders manifest a "sham death", sudden hit or heavy vibration, they act as dead only to come back alive a few moments later.

Watch your back!

Nah, forget about knocking out spiders - it is silly!

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
