How big is it compared to behind closed doors?

It's a good deal more expansive than BCD, so much so that it's taken some effort to get the engine to compile it. A lot of people have had their hands in this FM over the years, with Bikerdude and Shadowhide contributing a huge chunk of those manhours.

One question. Perhaps I'm counting wrong, but these two lists: https://thief.fandom.com/wiki/FM:TDM_List and https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Fan_Missions_for_The_Dark_Mod show 150 FMs. This list: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Fan_Missions_for_The_Dark_Mod shows 144 FMs and this list: https://www.thedarkmod.com/missions/ shows 148 FMs. Which is correct?

The TDM wiki differentiates between FMs and OMs. The three base pack missions are OMs, all the rest are FMs. The Thief Wiki treats all TDM missions as FMs.

The TDM wiki and Thief wiki also count the release of Vengeance for a Thief campaign as a single article, because the final version of the mission is a campaign, collecting all three missions of the VfaT (including the first two published previously, as separate missions). I have no say in what goes on the official website list, so if the dev team decides to include the first two VfaT missions separately, and then the whole compilation of them and a final added mission separately as well, that's up for the team to decide.

There are also some discrepancies between the Thief Wiki and TDM wiki lists, because one lists a mission by date of first release, and the other used to occassionally move it up by date of re-release. I plan to get rid of this issue and make both lists based on first release (with a note on latest release in the TDM list).

Someone needs to fix the links on the wiki page or remove the whole page!

https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Fan_Missions_for_The_Dark_Mod

That S is a mess. Not many links go to the actual FM that one wants. It goes to an FM, but not the one you think you clicked on.

It would be great if you could add a temporary warning on the top of the page, that links don't work properly yet.

I think TDM lacks only some types of FM's at the moment. More middle east, desert missions featuring the moors as we already have moor NPC's - Thief 2X basically.. We also have no FM's featuring the werewolves and we have no Little Big World type of environments such as the secret level from "The Sword" in Thief Gold. Like take for example the smallest FM from TDM and make the player a small miniature figure inside it. So surreal.

Just my wet dreams.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

I love Little Big World. It's so bizarre. You have to wonder why the guards even care about Garrett there- with all the other weird shit going on around them a little shadowy figure creeping around would just be one more minor oddity.

It seems generally that we have few Trickster-ish levels. Sure, missions like Deceptive Shadows, Briarwood Cathedral, and Mandrasola have elements of that sort of thing. But I don't think we have any mission like Escape from T1 (not that I mind, that map is completely unfair to anything but Rambo-style players).

Didn't "The Painters Wife" have a miniaturization section where you enter a snowglobe or something and you are transported inside of it and had to traverse out the top. It was only a few minutes long but it was amazing.

Also I know it's not TDM, but one T2 Mod I remember playing recently is "Garrett and the Beanstalk" in which you were small and the homes and furniture were gigantic. A Mod like this, if ported to TDM, would be phenomenal due to the much better fluidity, textures and lighting TDM offers.

That part in the Sword blew my mind. We did a very small section like that in Snowed Inn and there is something similar in TPW but nothing thats full on a little big world mission afaik.

Also agree that we don't have enough trickster-ish levels and exotic locations. There might be a couple levels on the horizon to fix that 🤪

I remember TDM missions with a little Garret, apart of the mencioneds The Painters Wife, I also remember, I think in The Snowed Inn, a mini Garret in a Bag. Apart of strange and tricky missions, like Swing (maybe a nice climb/jump training mission)

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
