Hi all, if you at least know tourist Deutsch, have a look at the nightmarish translation of LaToya Jackson's laudatio for Michael Jackson at the Semperopernball in Dresden. Have fun!   ;)

Nope, I don't. I speak German without any dialect whatsoever. It's just that you are considered an idiot when you open your mouth and say thigs like "nu!" or "norr?", so I did my best to overcome it. Took me half a year, but here I am, speaking High German!  :P

And yes, the translator (interpreter, actually) was an idiot. I have no idea what made the TV company choose this guy, especially when there are much much better people available on the market. But I sure had a laugh!

I wouldn't consider you guys over there idiots, but I still think it sounds funny! :D But well, I think almost any dialect is funny!!

My best guess is, there was an accident with the hired translator for that show and so someone from the station, who knows a bit of English jumped in! :)

The thing is, when you listen closely, you can even hear the people standing outside of the buildung laughing their asses off. This was a very sad day for my hometown... -_-

39!!!

Sonosuke probably speaks funny too... ;-P But I guess, that just depends on your standpoint. I worked in Bavaria for a couple of months once and they all said I'd talk funny, although I feel like I don't have any dialect at all! They also said, I don't have a good taste in beers, as I ordered a Pils a couple of times!! :D

Hah, every region in Germany says that if you don't order *their* speciality :D

Anyway, the translator was.. painful. Ouch.

One thing I found interesting is how La Toya looked like a.. hm, accident at the plastic surgery? Is that considered "beauty" in America? Ouch.

Well, it's not really a joke, but it's pretty embarrassing for a tv station to have a guy without any talents translate the show... :) He only translates small chunks of her speech taking them completely out of context and combines it with some wrong translations, resulting in some hilarious moments!!

I think that's just a thing in the Jackson family.

That guy certainly deserves an award.

Some of you (who don't speak German) wondered what the funny part of this video is. Well, someone made the effort on YouTube to write down what the interpreter had said. I'm re-translating it for your pleasure. In case you wonder: I'm translating *exactly* what the interpreter said. Have fun! ;-)

"How, how charming. How charming. How nice. I must say, it's really an honor to be here. I'd like to accept the charming. From Dresden. I don't know, if if Michael knew this. You know, he gave us 39. He gave his heart for the people. People danced with him. And, uhm, often they stayed until the next day. He is happy, uhm, that he could give the people so much. And his charity, of which he gave so much.

Uhm, he had a big heart, and he gave it to the people. This shows his kindness. His heart was so big. He thought - everything! My mother, my brother. And in many other different countries. My mother would uhm, scream, my brother would uhm, scream, m-my sister. Let's do something for it. Uhm, he would say, let's make a donation, and we should help the children. Children who need love, and in su-such a uhm, in such a young age, very young age.

He would... to play, to sit down with them, and he would say, you can get even younger, you can stay younger. Come in here, be a family with me, that's what he would say. I really thank everyone of you, in his name, his smhole, smile, that is here with us. Uhm, I thank you so much. Uhm, I, it's wonderful. Thank you so much!"

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
