Trouble downloading .pk4

Just a reminder, if you're running a mirror etc that hosts .pk4s:

Please add a mimetype for them, otherwise it leaves browsers to guess - sometimes resulting in this or in the case of IE's .zip filenames.

You can use pretty much anything application/zip is fine, just make sure pk4 is added to its list.

if you use the link firefox should open a box that askes whether you want to open the file or save file, it defaults to open file, all you do is click the save option then click on ok and it will the open a save box, and on pressing the ok button it saves it to your harddrive.

Yeah I fixed bloodgate.com, sorry for missing this before :) Just sent Fidcal a PM so he can fix fidcal.org (or whatever he has :)

How can I download from the Bloodgate mirror? I keep getting a McAfee Adware/Simbar warning page!

Hey there,

Does it report the zip/pk4 file as being infected; or does it show the warning as it starts to try download something?

I cant see anything on bloodgate which seems to try spreading Simbar, so I'd think it's either confusing the url (i,e try going to Bloodgate in a browser) or it's getting a false positive on the pk4 files. The domain doesn't have any problem with any of the large malware/phishing lists from my quick look :)

If you continue having problems and you're sure it's Bloodgate, Tels is the man to look for.

Bloodgate.com has these redirections in its .htaccess file (for some years now):

# Catch some short spyware and redirect the users to help pages
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} FunWebProducts
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.liamdelahunty.com/tips/fun_web_products.php [L]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} SIMBAR
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_131206.htm [L]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ZangoToolbar
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.scanspyware.net/info/180Solutions.ZangoToolbar.htm \[L]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} SpamBlockerUtility
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=2185 \[L]

They catch anyone with an "infected" browser and redirect them to a help page - no matter what they try to access from bloodgate.com. I probably should insert a "warning" page in between, or even update that list, but it happens so seldom (in my entire TDM time, twice now) that I can't be bothered.

Edit: The forum breaks the [L] snippets.

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

You cannot receive PMs. Could you please be so kind and check your mailbox if it is full (or maybe you switched off the function)?

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
