Errr, this driver clearly doesnt want to install correctly - Do other games work correctly? Do DirectX games run? Other OpenGL stuff?

 

Can you try installing the driver directly from the INF files using Device Manager?

 

 

i dont know much about Gl things

i play call of duty modern warfare , rfactor, thief 2

earlier this year my NVidia 7600 broke and i had this 9800GT as i warranty replacement since then i couldn't play the call of duty, wolfenstein due to similar errors ...

I hate to bring this idea up again, but that Motherboard was made right during the lawsuit war between Intel and Nvidia.

 

When nForce motherboards were pulling this crap for ATI cards they eventually relented and released BIOS updates that fixed most of those problems.

 

Now that the spat is mostly settled, ASUS may have a better Intel BIOS that is more Nvidia friendly.

 

So... a BIOS update?

 

Before checking that, you could also just try getting the latest ASUS chipset drivers (instead of Intel's version) which may be fixed compatibility with Nvidia cards as well...

 

Or you could get a ATI/AMD card as that is what your motherboard was designed to work with...

well i'm trying the inf thing in the device manager first but i may consider changing the card what would you suggest ?

I would look at an ATI 5850 or 5870 as they should have reasonably stable drivers and great price for performance.

 

The new ATI 69xx and 68xx series still have driver toothing issues so you might end-up in the same situation if you pick one up.

 

Really even older cards as far back as an X1600 (or older) series can run this mod, most of the limitation is on the CPU side (where you have reasonable strength). The new HDR-lite mode might be a little heavy on a mid-range cards for some missions so HD3650 or better might be advisable.

 

Approx: $50 ATI 4650 1GB

No, there is no way to tell if the BIOS updater utility depends on some running Windows service.

 

If this were 2004 I'd say yes but who knows these days. (I miss BIOS update floppies...).

(I've never killed a Motherboard with a BIOS update nor do I know any other PC tech who has done so. The risk is very small. I wouldn't be smug about it though or a power-outage might happen mid-flash... at least that would be my fortune :unsure: )...

Ok

 

I updated the Motherboard BIOS sucessufully and install the original drivers for the graphic card but still no success

 

A few months ago my Asus PCIE GF7 EN7600GT died and it was still on warranty so they gave me another one

to make a long story short the idiot who owned the shop at the time (he went bankrupt a while after )

gave me a EVGA 9800GT saying it was a better one for my trouble and since then imy wolfenstein ,Call of duty and call of duty 2 stopped working

those were working a similar way to doom 3 with a console at the start

So my guess is that i should get a ASUS again to match my ASUS P5W DH motherboard ...

will do this this afternoon !

 

I wanna thank you all for your advices and tricks

 

i keep you posted when i change the card !

I hope your new card works out.

 

(An OS reinstall was really the only other option short of changing hardware.)

 

 

yeah i tought about that too reinstalling XP

but all the backup i would need to do , pictures, musics, emails adress books , favorites

if the card change doesn't solve it i'll do that but i don't have the courage right now smile.gif

 

the guy advised me to re install winxp before anything else because there was no reason for my card not to work properly

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
