Yeah, I was able to blackjack a spider (NHAT1/3) and I can also confirm that only kill-arrows can be recovered. (Performance-reason?) The little spiders take un-alerted only one arrow anyway. The big ones two IIRC.

I have problems with stabbing spiders and zombies, because their attack-range seems to be wider than mine, so I avoid it. <_<

Yes, that makes sense. Otherwise once they've gone off the alert we could have AI wandering around for the rest of the mission with an arrow, or even several, sticking in them. Not only would it look crazy but probably get caught up on doorways etc.

If you intend to search a well lit room for loot, don't close the door behind you completely. Leave it open a very tiny bit so that it blocks direct vision but not the sound from the outside, so that you can hear what's happening there. This way, no AI won't surprise you during your hunt for loot.

Moreover if the door is wooden, shot the door with an arrow as possible as horizontal. When AI tries to open the door arrow will prevent it to open. Then when your job is finished take the arrow. There is also way for metal door but I keep it for myself. :)

LoL gotta try this one out!!! I'll figure out how to block metal doors if you say it's possible, but actually I've never been caught while searching the room. I always managed to be in shadowy place while I heard the doors being opened does it rly happen to you guys often? Btw it just went through my head - is it possible for guard to put the light back "on" if it uses switch not torch?

PS: I also found rope arrowes more powerful then broadheads in damage. :)

It seems that there are still a lot of old-time players who get frustrated by the vastly improved newness of TDM...

I'll address one issue I see people worried about or say frustrated by... I guess a lot of people still haven't figured out how to knock people out...

Very simple and effective: hit them at the base of the back of their neck. Kerthunk, kerthunkle... This is how mugging works. Not smacking someone in the fucking foot.

Now stop screwing around with that decrepit old Thief and get over here and play TDM. What else is the problem? Water arrows? Shoot more realistically as well -- either nail the shot directly -- water to flame; or shoot above the flame so as to have the shower effect... What else? I just don't have any of these problems that seem so prevalent as far as gameplay goes. TDM is a joy, FFS!

If it's HW, again... I don't understand most of the problems. If you aren't able to afford the required specs, that I understand, but if you have Linux special variety 64bit and you can't make it work, then back off from Linux... you aren't meant to have Linux... This Is Not For You!... wait now I'm being overly obnoxious... I take that back, I take this paragraph back, except I'm leaving it here...

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
