I have so much sympathy for actual medieval architects sometimes. This is a whole page of freak mistakes they just built around hoping no one would notice too much. https://stainedglassattitudes.wordpress.com/2014/08/10/great-mistakes-in-english-medieval-architecture/

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

I build all of my maps like that.

"Whooops, I totally screwed this. It has bad proportions, and looks absolutely ridiculous, but it'd be too tiresome to scrap it and restart from scratch. Oh well, let's see what I can do."

(...three weeks of building later...)

"There, fixed it."

(fitfteen minutes later)

"I wonder if I could pull that off. No way this could ever backfire."

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

That was kinda the plan for the fourth mission that would have ended the story arc I began in Bad Debts and Disorientation. Very tall buildings, canals, ledges and parapets. Basically very similar to how skacky's Endless Rain ended up, except with much more water.

One of the later Komag contest FMs was set in a Venice canal. And of course TDM had the idea for a Flood Ward for the first campaign well before Dishonored--you can see it in the early sunk cathedral trailer, the first time the public got to see a water arrow in action--and it's still an official part of Bridgeport, so a legit setting for an FM.

Giger-esque would be more appropriate. I wonder what that game's gameplay will actually be. Seems like a first person puzzle game of some sort.

"My milkshake bringeth all ye gentlefolk to the yard. Verily 'tis better than thine, I would teach thee, but I must levy a fee."

"When Kleiner showed me the sky-line of New York I told him that man is like the coral insect—designed to build vast, beautiful, mineral things for the moon to delight in after he is dead."

Back in the dark ages when dinosaurs roamed the planet and I was a young board-gamer, I built a WWII diorama on top of the unused ping-pong table in our basement. The thing was huge, and I remember endless hours of assembling and painting models, molding paper-mache into ravines and hills, and burning holes in tanks and troop carriers with sunlight through a magnifying glass to make them more realistic.

The diorama is long gone now, and I stopped making models eons ago. But here's a site that stirs up memories of those long-lost days. Perhaps folks can find inspiration for TDM missions from the various kits these folks (and others like them) create.

That character hanging from the pole up there, how would you do that with a ragdoll? Is it possible to hang them? What about the algerian hook torture? Is that possible? (butchers hook through one side, and out the other and hung face up). Could be interesting drama to add to a level.

Penny Dreadful 2 has hanging ragdolls near the start. Getting anything to hang with physics seems to be unnecessarily complicated to do - afaik you need a custom .af, .def and model. You'd need to study existing setups closely to find out how to get it done.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
