Using x64 pre3:

I have missing axis arrow tips, makes dragging stuff around and resizing a bit interesting. Could be a setting tho.

The sound loading progress dialog resizes to its max length. Not too much of an issue.

I haven't checked this in pre3, but it was there in pre2 : Some materials can cause the material browser to freak out and print out material lines as sub-items of the material. Like a folder with each line of the material increasing its depth.

Haven't noticed any crashing.

You're saying that running D3 could make a difference? Is the crash reproducible or random? Can you give me specific steps? I'm loading all kinds of maps here, but it doesn't crash on me, so I need more detailed instructions.

@Serpentine: missing axis arrow tips? What exactly is this? Can you give me a screenshot?

Right I did the following steps without doom running btw:

1. started DR, waited for it to load, then shutdown - no crash.

2. started DR, waited for it to load, then load map, then shutdown - no crash.

3. started DR, waited for it to load, then load map, leaving program running for 10mins, then shutdown - no crash.

4. started DR, waited for it to load, then load map, did some work in DR for 10 mins, then shutdown - then it produced a crash.

Does this help..?

Hm, ok. The did some work in DR for 10 mins part is obviously containing the trigger. The actual duration is not a problem, it's one of the steps you did while mapping which are enabling the crash at shutdown. It'd be nice to have these narrowed down to a few specific steps, otherwise debugging is too much trial & miss.

I'm using DR for my own mapping too, let's see when I run into it.

(One more possibility (if all else fails) would be to attempt a remote debugging session, but for this setup we both need to be online at the same time and you need the Remote Debugging Monitor running on your system (and we need to be in the same network, which we can achieve via Hamachi, I guess)).

Hi Greebs, yeah i have no problem with that, I'm installing Hamachi now and I'll drop you a pm..

Whoah, not so fast :) - I just got home a few minutes ago. I need to make some tests with my brother's machine, so that I know exactly how to set this up on your end. You'll also need an up to date DarkRadiant compile, which I can give you tomorrow or something like that.

Found 2 more bugs:

  • When selecting the option "Create Entity" there is a long delay before the window pops up
  • I only had this on one of my maps: lights sources i created were staying black (hue/Sat/Value were all stuck on zero) and no matter what I did they would stay on zero. So put DR 1.4 back on and all's well.

I have downloaded this and started testing on a day off. There are three issues so far to report beyond what people have already mentioned.

1) Brush splits seem to be more visible in the editor - there is a black hairline crack that seems stronger than in earlier versions. This has not showed up when I loaded up the game, but there you go.

2) This is more serious. When I open up a light with the light inspector and modify Hue/Saturation/Value, the light reverts to 0/0/0 when closing the inspector or selecting another light. I will try and restart my PC on chance this is a one-off glitch, but... [edit]Nope, still there.[/edit]

3) When I exit the programme, it sometimes crashes instead of terminating normally.

For the time being, I will reinstall a previous version.

Greebs, I have been getting the above issue on top of the others also. But because it only happened one I ignored it..

Although it doesn't display a few particles(for now) it's a great timesaver for sure.

Which particles are you referring to? It should be fully capable of rendering all particle declarations in the D3 base and TDM.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
