Damn, so there was capital letters I overlooked. Does this mean that your specific Linux distro d3 ignores material files with capital letters??

Yesh, since usually D3 cannot tell that "FooBar.Baz" should be the file "fooBar.Baz", "foobar.baz" or any other combination thereof. An exception is if you specify as asset "Foobar" and there is an all lowercase file "foobar", then D3 will load this as a sort of last-resort. But if you specify "f.bar" and the file is named "F.bar" D3 has no chance.

(I wonder tho why it didn't load "Custom.mtr" as these files are not referenced, so it should just load all mtr files it finds. Strange)

As for the dmap, this is an unsolved mystery, some maps need a dmap on linux, some not, and so far we don't know why. Bikerdudes missions didn't need a dmap for me on Linux. Maybe it has to do with the map file being "Foo.map" vs. "foo.map", too?

Nope, since in this mission the mapname is lowercase as are all it's attached buddies (meaning the aas32, cm and proc). They're all lowercase.

I notice one thing thats a little inconsistent is that some of the various refernces are to knighton_manor and others to knightons_manor.

Oh, the map file names are knightonS_manor and the workname was "knightonS manor".

I renamed the mission to The Knighton Manor just before releasing, because the latter felt more correct. It would have been error prone to go and start renaming the files simply because of a name correction.

Just a shot into the dark, maybe the directory where the PK4 is in must be all lowercase, too? or the PK4 name (it is already,hm.). Puzzling.

What a fine mission! Thank you! It is so rewarding to finish a mission without cheating (e.g. looking here for spoilers) AND finding all the secrets (which were secret enough, although I found 'em :P). I most enjoyed the background information and the social interaction (if you know what I mean: The guards and servants were not just AI walking around - I like and dislike some of them - that's so cool!). Two Thumbs up!

Thanks for the mission. Loved the cool skybox, bemoaned the fact I couldn't go there heh, loved the object interaction (like w/ the golden wheel, although I didn't figure out you could

jam a statue into the alarm mechanism

) and inventor's guild stuff.

With this mission and St. Alban's it seems like the inventor's guild is getting a lot of attention/backstory as a faction.

... although I didn't figure out you could

jam a statue into the alarm mechanism

...

Heh, that would have been easier than what I did.

I tried to use items which would fill the space exactly, starting with a box, then a boot, then I put the padlock in sideways on top of the boot toe... using the statue would have saved me a couple minutes.

Congrats on an excellent mission Sotha.biggrin.gif Ended up doing it twice as I finished the first time before I realized itlaugh.gif and missed so much loot had to do it again. Now have to go back and find 2 more loot.

I really liked the

lighting from the windows. Made you really have to sneak around. Also enjoyed casanova's secret attic - which was where most of my missing loot was.

Enjoy your break but come back soon we'll miss you and your cleverness.

Just found the last 2 (thanks PranQster for the

missed one in the pool.) I got the first two with arrows but did not see a third earlier. I still didn't see a third but used show loot and it said it was there so just pinpointed it and clicked and it was added to my loot content. Never saw it though.

Oh well finished with all the loot. I love it.blush.gif

Nice little mission!

Good Visual, the Manor look very good and realistic. Gameplay very good too, but, for my taste, a little bit too simple to complete.

I liked a lot:

The treasure in the cavern in the crypt opened with the secret.

Nice side story for the murder!

Also very very cool: the puzzle!

As always: bravo Sotha! :-D

I really enjoyed this one! As much as I truly love 'epic story' FMs, what drew me into Thief in the first place was sneaking into someone's mansion and robbing them blind. This was perfect for that. :) The intro was great:

The 'camvator' or whatever it may be called here, scooting in and dropping over the hedge- thumbs up!

Having the party guests being escorted off the property was a very minor detail, but it added more 'life' to the environment than the brackets the player character puts around the experience.

The good Captain's trophy room was fantastic, and another touch of 'life' (albeit a very naughty one, tsk)! There were many of these touches in the notes, and I enjoy such things a lot.

The puzzle and me sticking a broom into the gears to prevent the alarm from sounding was just great! I just had to pause and look at my handiwork and laugh, before heading back up to collect the scepter.

I wound up 166 shy on loot, and browsing this thread I have to ask...

The treasure in the cavern in the crypt opened with the secret.

Crypt, gotcha. Secret? CAVERN? I didn't find anything like this off of the crypt! Spoil me, please!

Thanks for an enjoyable FM, Sotha, and I wish you a relaxing break, but hope that it won't be too terribly long before you're back and giving us more excellent thieving. :)

You might want to search the cellar again. There is one room with some broken chairs. Go and clear the room out.

Then search the walls

I do believe I found that.

Are you speaking of the passage to where all the bottles were stored?

I found that...but that had nothing to do with

a secret cavern off of the crypt

which is what made me go ... o.O ... O.o ... and ask for a spoiler.

Am I still missing something?

the bottles in passage that you already found (i named it "cavern", maybe it's too tiny :-))

As always, Sotha, your missions are done by the gameplay is king approach. I voted excellent on all counts because I found the mission to match my playing type and style to a tee.

A lot of guards made the situations tense more than once. The visuals were ok, but had some new features, which I liked, such as the half-moon shaped balcony. Story came out little by little, from notes and diaries more than conversations, but they made it clear that beside the main story other things were happening too at the same time - just like in real life. The puzzles were fun to try and experiment with.

Nice medium-sized mission, Sotha! wub.gif I hope your hiatus from TDM won't last too long...

Awesome mission! This back that classic mansion heist feeling, and I agree with Sotha that not every mission needs a sinister plot twist. The story here was just right.

Played it tonight in a Thomas Porter double feature, right after the Glenham Tower.

As such, I was almost disappointed that no undead attacked me in the crypt. Almost. I had the holy water out and ready to go. :)

When it came time to disable the alarm, I put a small crate underneath the counter-weight, but it wasn't quite high enough for the weight to rest on. I didn't want to go back out into the lit hallway with the guard patrolling there. So I was looking through my inventory for something I could use to span the gap, when what do I find but the thick manual for the alarm system! Ah, delicious irony.

Other fun moments:

The secret trophy room was a nice touch. When I first laid eyes on it, I thought he might be a serial killer, and thought "Oh no, yet another sinister plot twist!" But instead, it was just the right level of scumbaggery to make me not feel so bad about robbing him.

It's possible to douse the card players' candle with a water arrow without making them stand up from the table: stand out of sight down the stairs, lean out and shoot the ceiling over the candle. The water then splashes down and douses it. The players do notice, but don't stand up and quickly go back to playing their game, now in pitch darkness and with some water that wasn't there before. Then the game just gets worse when everyone mysteriously runs out of coins to make bets with.

Brought the body of the slain guard up out of the cellar and dropped him in the storage room, so that someone would at least know what happened. Unless Ralf happens to find him before anyone else and hides him again. Oh well.

Finally, the obligatory screenshot. Tried to ghost, but ended up using a few water arrows and pinching out some candles:

I like these videos about TDM!

Also very useful to improve my gameplay and discover different way to enter the manor :-D

(i entered on the door on the right of the courtyard, a completely different path)

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
