Progressive, innovative and unconventional Music

electronic music (industrial/ambient) has always inspired me the most as progressive / groundbreaking because the artists are generally pushing the envelope with what can actually be considered music.

Yes, crossbreed :D

I didn't even know I was in the mood for melodic heavy metal, it's been so many years since I heard anything like that. But I really enjoyed this one, heard the whole thing without getting bored :D (and who's the drummer?)

....... here`s a shot on the Lastfm-site , taken in cologne (in front of the `guitar valley`-shop) back in ~1988 (crap-where have all the good times gone? ^_^ )

Listening to this as I'm taking care of my daughter (and trying to get a few brushes done in DR on the sly) :

Man... love the optical illusion of that video you posted (don't hit play!). Just look at the background....the green leaves on blue/red background in that pattern, it moves without moving. Would make wicked wallpaper for the desktop!

Huinik is such a talented composer! 15 years of activity on the trance scene (under a lot of aliases) and still SUPREME.

Oh man, I have ton of this.

501 - VM3000

If this isn't unconvential, I don't know what is. It's really stretching the boundaries of what music is, on a different level than "harder, faster, more screaming".

Not really progressive anymore since it's so old, but:

Black Sun Empire - Hyper Sun

This used to be what dubstep sounded like. Dark, but calm music. Of course there were different types of dubstep, but this used to be dominant before Skrillex caused a gigantic influx of new deejays who all made a bunch of noise. I don't listen to dubstep much anymore these days. Just these old songs.

I have more, but I got to run.

You can call me Phi, Numbers, Digits, Ratio, 16, 1618, or whatever really, as long as it's not Phil.

Russian version of Red Hot Chili Peppers "Give it away" song :

Fun fact: guitar riff at the end of "Give it away" is from Black Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf" played slightly faster, although the Russian band plays it slightly different.

It's only a model...

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
