No matter how many times I listen to this, it just never gets old. The song is a fraction of a meg, but it is 4x longer than a traditional song. There are lots of different sections to the music, all of which are strung together and fit perfectly, though they're distinct. Its the type of music you can have playing in the background while you're doing other things, and it will not bug you. That's why I still say this guy is brilliant.

I've always loved this song too. The best part starts at 1:41.

Brilliant

Last time I heard this song in Natural Born Killers movie /Mexican stand off scene/

The Downward Spiral is a title to one of the Prey levels too.

Three of them the song, the movie and the game are just great in my opinion.

I have not looked through all of the pages here, but here are some links which might interest you.

Some interesting electronic madness, labelled as dubstep/glitchhop/neurofunk/drum&bass and similar genres.

Since many of you seem to like metal, the Swedish band Meshuggah is seen as pretty progressive. Might have been posted before?

Mixed meters, polyrythms and darkness.

Thanks!

Bong-Ra is also a member of Hard Way trio :D

Ah, didn't know that. Some of my friends here in Oslo booked Bong-Ra not so long ago, he's a really nice guy.

Also met Igorrr a while ago, funny guy. I work with photography so I sometimes get to hang out with artists, it's fun. :)

Seems a lot of you guys are taking the progressive part as meaning the music style progressive (rock and so on). I guess thats fine, but as far as unconventional music goes (still not really into complete indie wilderness) you have several strong bands that are on the fringes of popular styles there, that are quite unique in their own ways.

One such is Interpol, just released a new album, some might like it:

Their first album is by far their best though, the cold guitar walls and interesting lyrics, quite pleasant...

PS: Probably mentioned them before, but the new album release deserved a bump.

Great Album :)

EDIT: Whoah, just remembered this one again. It's been almost twenty years since I've heard it the last time. My father has this album, and when I was 8 years old or so I had to listen to this song over and over again. Loved it. To be hnest it was the only song from the album that I liked.

"harder, faster, more screaming".

We got a new "can't go further with noise" monster tune :D

(it's *really* rough industrial hardcore track taking to the extreme the sound style/concept of another Ophidian track, the remix of "Monster" - not for the faint of ears :D)

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
