Something really cool about this mission, its the tight streets, that are more like back alleys... its that sort of style that puts emphasis on getting passed guards with the skin of your teeth or forcing you to take the high road, climbing is fun for me. I'm fast so I run, jump and climb like a ninja.

This whole level is beautiful with finally a small taste of the undead I have had yet to see... I went up to the corpse only to my surprise he sits up right into my face

The builders place was a bit weird to see such a easy to get into building, I have always come against heavily fortified Builder churches, cathedrals and underground machine laboratories... this time it was a cake walk. I loved the climbable vines/wooden wall, haven't seen that before.

The gameplay was as good as it could be expected but there was always something illogical, like having to leave Rowan's tip on his desk, and I couldn't find where his place is... there was no mention of it anywhere besides the note on the actual door to his room and there is no map leaving that compass of mine cold and alone, surely I would have scribbled a little map of mine by scouting the place before hand. Can't go in blind wandering around the place can I.

Also the player should have some options as to what optional tools to bring like the spyglass and a lantern eventhough I don't use them. Some shop options would be nice.

The storyline is more of a compliment to the map rather than something noteworthy.

There was also a pretty hard to get secret spot up ontop of the buildings

Is there going to be a Lockdown Part 2?

There will be, but I've only built the start of it and I've planned the next "area" so to speak.

I'm a little tentative as to how I will end it. It's a tough one to write an unfolding event that actually seems significant, otherwise you'd get that feeling: "All this for THAT!?" :D

But I've got a few things going, and it's really inspiring to see all the awesome work Bikerdude did on this one and the responses in this thread.

Near the beginning, in the area after the guardhouse, you can climb up a wooden bridge. From there one side leads to the Builder area through a door, on the other side there is an open window. Enter the open window and look for another open window in that building.

Solved thank you

I had looked out of that window but assumed it was somewhere I had already been

Ha! I had thought the same thing, didn't realize there was a whole other area through that window. thx! Oh btw is there a Lockdown Two still coming?

Oh wow it was a long time ago I saw this thread.

But yes. I'm slowly... veeeeery slowly, creeping almost, working on the second part.

I unfortunately don't have a lot of time right now though, school and other stuff, so I'm not entirely sure how this would happen in a time-frame that isn't spread out through the next few years...

You cant create something as awesome as Lockdown Part 1 and then tell us that we have to wait a "few years" for part 2! Whats more important? Your education or TDM?

You gonna make me answer that? Haha.

But yes, it'd be something along those lines if I were to go at a steady rate of school, work on my game project, work on some other stuff and then squeeze a bit of TDM mapping into the last half-hour of the day... It'd take a few years.

@ Bikerdude: Yeah you know, I would take you up on that, were it that I'd actually have an entire level to work with that just needed the rough edges sanded off etc etc.

I really hate saying this but, after all these years I'm coming up short with this mission... It's still going to happen to wrap up the series.

*sigh*

Its cool, I maybe able to do a bunch of mapping grunt work that will help keep you motivated. Pm what you have thus far.

I'm not easily declining this offer. You see- I'll just be straight and flat out.

... I've got a room... And one connecting little entryway... It's a decorated room though...

It's obvious I should make a little more before handing it to you, seeing as how the story, as it is, isn't even unfolding.

Should I really send you that?

Edit: And to my defense. I have been very busy. <_<

Just finished this on difficult!

Very cool mission, very original.

I liked the story, it was interesting.

The map was also fun to explore and well designed.

I really misjudged this mission by the size of it's file, I thought it would be very short, but it took me a reasonable amount of time to finish.

My favorite part was entering the catacombs with the zombies, after reading about the place. It's a really well done and creepy place.

For me, it was challenging to finish it on difficult because I'm so used to knocking down the guards! It was a interesting change of pace for me.

Thank you GameDevGoro and BikerDude! :)

Ok so this is the proper thread.

Just finished playing through this FM and I had a blast. It's sad that there will be no part 2/3 because it was a really enjoyable mission. Was small enough to keep the interest but big enough to draw me into the world, I loved how there were quite a few details sprinkled here and there about everyone's life. It really felt like I was exploring a city that felt alive.

The detail in the streets was absolutely fantastic and crawling around going from house to house was great, plenty of access points!

Hopefully TDM can get more FM's like this!

I think GameDevGoro might be working on the next instalments, but you will have to ask him.

Sent him a message and he read it but never responded so lets wait and see.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
