Disabling Catalyst AI

nbohr1more

Recommended Posts

We shall see...

With HD 4xxx series and older it's likely they cannot remove the Catalyst AI "disable" feature as it shipped with the product. It never shipped with the HD 6xxx products and thus has been MIA. Us users with older hardware may be lucky that ATI has been reluctant to remove the control for fear of litigation?

HD 3870 is also "older" hardware...

I don't know if I simply am super retarded or what, but I just can't figure this shit out.

That made me laugh so hard, I'm gonna use this sentence to introduce all my problems now on the forums

No it doesn't work for me, here is what I did:

Uninstall old ATI driver

Reboot

Uninstall everything from ATI left with Driver Cleaner Pro

Reboot

Install only the Display driver (newest ATI version 11.12)

Sky is turning like mad (it makes me puke).

Post Processing turns screen upside down.

Game is running fine without post processing and with the no_skybox.mtr file.

I guess when there's no CCC installed, there's no Catalyst AI working too. But nevertheless I isntalled the CCC too and tested it out. I disabled all settings and it didn't work (Catalyst AI can only be set to performance) and then I set it to Quality and it didn't work out too. Everything is fucking upside down

In this version there is no AMD vision centre and also no profiles to setup. The profiles are called 'Preset' now and you can only choose an application to run after activating that profile. I did this with tdmlauncher. Didn't work out though.

The things that you mentioned before were Radeon Pro Tool for example. Didn't work for me either.

Inserted two screens to show you

I really hate this ATI shit. Somehow I can't get the ingame vertical sync to work. SO i switched it to "allways on" in the CCC. Now every application I run (Dark Radiant e.g.) takes hours to load. Why the fuck do they build a CCC if it's only doing crappy shit. I'll uninstall this f*** s*** Centre

btw Mathuz told me the following to try:

1. Ctrl+Alt+Del

2. I have Slovak version, but second window should be "processes"

3. There you turn off CCC.exe and MOM.exe

4. After that in "drive":\Documents and Settings\"user"\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE run Profiles.xml

5. Search for Catalyst and set the value from "enable" to "disable"

Didn't work ingame for me either. ATI is so annoying..

Do you all have your doom3 patched to some specific version? Could this be a course?

I have even complained to AMD directly about this as its completely unacceptable.

@ST, there is another option that should work where all other options fail but its a bit of fiddling around etc.

  • 3 weeks later...

See tracker 2456

Since v1.08 will have a different executable name, this problem "should" be resolved.

I am guessing Greebo has yet to post an updated executable compile to SVN ?

The exe compiles and is up, it's periodically updated - You should _not_ release it. But yeah, if BC can test and see if it still happens with the new name, that would be nice. However I don't think it will fix it.

I've got a bunch of other stuff to do at the moment, but I think I have found a way to fix all of this up however I need to do benching and talk to a someone... and at the moment I don't have much spare time, it should however make it in for 1.08 should it be on the right track.

OK, Not sure exactly what I should do here.

I updated SVN.

I took TheDarkMod.exe out of the SVN folder and dropped it into my Doom3 folder. Clicked it and it seemed like TDM was starting up, but it just hang.

Is there something else I need to do. Hoping to test this to see if it fixes the Catalyst upside down sky issues.

You're probably gonna have to PM greebo but here's a guess:

The gamex86.dll is either obsolete or needs to be different to work. I'd try renaming or deleting the gamex86.dll in your Darkmod directory and see if the game starts.

You can't (it needs new versions of a lot of the assets too) and the patch is by no means final... as I still have a few more things to do in the area.

But closer to the time, I will need you to test - so I've taken a note.

I don't think I will need anyone else, so before people say 'and me' - the reply is 'no'.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
