I watched a video.

Guys running around, didn't look much stealth gameplay. I admit I think I saw sometimes someone turning suddenly invisible.

The recording player had his gamma turned up so high everything looked washed out and awful.

Nope, didn't get interested at all.:( TF2 spy gameplay looks more stealty gameplay to me.

Thief must run on loudly floors and light areas sometimes. Thievery maps can't be enough dark to give thieves chance compete objectives without risking during such rushing. In other side HUMAN guards have chance to safely patrol maps from one light area to other. If experienced guard's patrolling map in smart way thief must risk again and again during periods while looting can be more safe (maybe ;)). So typically thief staying in shadows observing nearby area and analyze what route from many he can use now. Thief and Guard(human) investigating all the time enemy's tactics like in CS - pure&smart thief multiplayer, isn't it?

Nah, looked like chaotic running to me. I think the the chaos is emphasized by the constant change of the observed player and the view pops constantly from the first person to the third person.

Can you recommend a video where a single (skilled) player (who does something interesting) is constantly spectated, without the view constantly popping from player to player and not switch between first person and third person? That kind of video might give a better impression for a person who is totally unfamiliar with the game.

Maybe one video on the thief side and another on the guard side?

after 6 month of inactivity one player (Rodent from Mockers guild) returned to thievery

and I recorded 3 maps of his gameplay mainly cos I want to analyze his style (he was very skilled earlier - I remember that)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3rV70wURQg (spectating for guard mainly)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbbqnBIqSK0 (spectating for thief mainly)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmhMQ_FGzwc (single player practicing)

also our regular experienced player - Komandor played single on our servers two maps last month

sorry for his chat activity during his gameplay

and third player, Lance after more than year played this

you can see that he made some mistakes at the end and then he did a ragequit

I collect all that videos in One Player Videos playlist

Back in the day, when Thievery was at its highest play time, lot of people had a blast playing it. Watching video's, and actually playing are two different things. You can't fully understand what its like to hide in the shadows, and have a human know where those shadows are. There was plenty of areas to hide in, it was not just running around all the time, the fun for me was finding new spots to hide in. SOOO much fun.

I played the hell out of it, can't tell you how many times after a good round, my hands would shake, and shake, my heart pounding. Nothing else like it. I was one of the few women that did play, and not to toot my own horn, I was pretty good, its a difficult game at times, very challenging, and if you do not have the patience to learn, its not for you. It does have a high learning curve, but, its worth it. If you just want to run and gun it, go play something else, like regular UT. This game was ahead of its time, and it still is.

You get a bunch of good friends playing, get on Team Speak, let the fun begin. Chaotic at times, challenging, finding new spots to hide in, how the hell did he do that, rat mode with friends running around. Such an under rated game.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
