Torches

[Darkness_Falls]

Here are a couple quick pen sketches I did today of weird torches. Use them for inspiration, or don't use them; I care not. Use them for actual torch designs, or just for creating bronze sculptures/ornamentation, or nothing; again, I care not.

 

I was talking to my ex on the phone when I subconsciously drew the first one, so maybe there was some chaos in my brain that came out as fire on paper. I just "went with the flow" for the 2nd torch.

 

Disregard that strange anomaly at the top of the first one's flame -- it was part of a different sketch (see bottom-most image below to maybe help see what was going on there):

Thanks guys You know, I never really liked the flame in my colorized version before. (Didn't spend much time on it.) So I messed around with the flame more tonight. An artist's work is never done

Cool photoshop effects!

 

Try also using different sized brushes of the smudge tool (if you have a tablet), it works really well for making fire effects. The tablet pen allows for pressure sensitivity with the smudge tool, if you use a mouse it won't work so well though.

Excellent tip! Will try I'm always down with a 'helpful hint' regarding Photoshop tools.
