Fan Mission: Closemouthed Shadows (2008) reworked for TDM 1.07 (2012/01/15)

In memory of Closemouthed Shadows I modified the original version (from 2008) to run with TDM 1.07.

 

Keep in mind that this is a very simple, old and small mission. Compared to todays missions it's crap but it was the first fan mission ever and it was the only fan mission available in 2008. :D

 

Big thanks to b1k3rdude who has helped me to bring Closemouthed Shadows to TDM 1.07 (and improved some text and visuals).

Issues found:

 

Several wood and stone textures are missing their Enhanced Ambient stages (Black when Ambient is set to Advanced)

 

 

The "Plate" objective is impossible because the frob distance is too short.

Thanks for finally reqorking this one, Lord Savage !

So, finally I was able to play this one.

 

Funny... this is the only mission I know where where arrow stick in the head of guards, so you can retrieve them back consistently ... he must have had the 'knock on wood' property set :rolleyes: . Or maybe this is common and I did not realize since I don't use arrows very often

 

 

Hmmm... I played both your version and the fixed one by nbohr1more...

I can't see any difference and did not have any problem either...

I'll try again. If it's still difficult I will try fiddling with the frob settings myself and upload that too.

Edit:

 

 

OK. You have to stand on the latrine (?) to collect the plate. Merely leaning over it wont work. No big deal. It adds a little more challenge to a very short mission.

Another issue with this fun little map, if you tell the lift to go back up when you are at the bottom, there's no way to get it back down. There needs to be a down+up buttons at both the top and the bottom of the lift. Other then that I got some screenshots for the mission downloads page.

 

EDIT: Damn nice screenshots N

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

I'll still need maybe 2 or 3 shots from this mission and a few from House of Theo. I was planning a 2011 year in review article but I've been too busy

at work (and staying too late). I still plan on posting something...

 

I kinda think I should do the more tedious thing and create material defs for those problematic Doom 3 textures (then have you take pics

of that) but in most cases the replacements look better anyway...

Is the fixed version available on the mission downloader?

 

I just requested that it be updated so if Greebo hasn't already replaced it, the new version will be there soon.

Greebo flagged the file as an update. I didn't see that in the interface... hmm... Nonetheless the fix is up BTW...

 

(Might be pushing out a fix for the broken Ambient_World in Sons of Baltona... renamed to Ambient_World2 for some reason... )

Thats a known DR bug, you get it when you open the map with a different copy of DR. As in when someone send me a map and I open it this is whats happens - I logged abug tracker for it - 2733

      I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
