tdm hanging on start up

ah, reinstalls get so frustrating.

 

I just reinstalled Doom3 and patches to 1304 , then with the HD issues I re-installed windows.

 

Now when starting Doom3 it starts and goes in game fine.

 

When starting TDM it hangs on the TDM screen, and my cursor arrow appears. I remember this happening before but not what I did to fix it.

 

The paths are correct.

I did delete currentfm.txt, but was getting the same thing before that.

I've always had the space in Doom 3, no issues. Please tell me I don't have to reinstall doom because I reinstalled windows (messed up reg?) Doom 3 works fine.

Don't use tdmlauncher, use "thedarkmod.exe" by copying it into "C:\Doom 3" (I see you have a space in this path...) and then start it directly.

 

I'll go ahead and remove tdmlauncher from SVN now - it has been deprecated for a while now.

Well, I'm on 1.07... I was hoping to have a working 1.08 copy going but this HDD crap is killin me.

 

And I'm having the SVN update issues where it keeps telling me a 'versioned' folder already exists, I delete it, update, when it's done with that folder it tells me the next folder already exists.

 

And I don't have a dakrmod.exe in my SVN folder.

Can't help you with the SVN versioned issue, maybe just check it out in a completely new, empty folder?

 

The file is called "thedarkmod.exe" and I think it will appear once SVN is done updating all the other folders.

@Tels, yeah, I just started fresh, hate to do it to the bandwidth but it happens I guess... Gonna be awhile.

 

Did you run the game as Admin (disable UAC) ?

 

It was worth a try, I always turn all that crap off but sicne it's a new istall... but no, that didn't help.

Figured it out.

 

Got SVN re-updated, copied Doom3 over ..thedarkmod.exe ... It was hanging too.

 

In fact it locked up right when I turned v-synch on in my settings.

 

I Catalyst Control Center (back to 10-11) vsynch was set to one click above performance, I changed it to Quality (Always On) and the game fired up fine in 1.07 and 1.08.

(was just using 10.8 CC and it must not have had that choice, it was either on or off.

Might as well put this here..

 

While running 1.08 in SVN I've got the green lines going from sounds to ai, and green text above ai's head. I can't find the command to turn it off, and SVN doesn't even have a config file that I can find. (not that I know what to look for). (it's not s_drawsounds - thats a red line to v portals and red boxes around sounds. at least in 1.07)

      I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
