Question regarding Warn Status

Recommended Posts

The question is: 'what is it'. I have it appearing on my posts with a white line beneath it. I've never been warned about anything or told I was out of line ever, but I have it and I don't see it on anyone else's posts? I've sent messages to two of the Moderator/Admins: sneaksiedave and greebo neither of whom see interested in responding... since they haven't. I've searched the help topics and the forum topics and found nothing about it. If I've done something wrong, I'll correct it, but I can't see what it might have been as I've only made a few posts ... all of which were either an attempt to get the game running or a question about a mission. I've never offered an opinion on a mission or the game except to give the highest kudos.... so WHAT IS WRONG? I'd appreciate a relevant answer if someone could please help me out.

I have that too.

When you click it, you should see a blank "log page".

It appears to be a forum debug tool as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you have messages in that log page...

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

Well you are the first I've run into who has it too. I have no messages in it and any attempt to 'change the warning level' is met with 'you don't have authorization'. It wouldn't bother me except that I never see it on anyone else's posts and it makes me feel like I'm marked for some reason that I'm unaware of. It really sucks when you think you may have offended someone and you have no idea when, how or why and worse there's no way to rectify it. The people here put huge amounts of their time and energy into this mod and it's missions and the last thing I want is to, inadvertently, be a critic or a pain to anyone. I even feel weird posting this, but I'm tired of having it hanging over my head for no apparent reason.

Everyone has one, but I guess you only see your own (admins see everyone's). If you receive a warning the bar starts filling up with colour (blue, I believe). You have to be a pretty big ass to get a warning around here.

Lol, as far as I know I'm not even a very small ass... but can you tell me why it appears below my avatar and no one else's? At lease I've never seen it on anyone's and, while I've not posted much, I read quite a lot of diverse posts. BTW thanks for the responses both of you.

Oh sorry, I didn't understand your reply fully. I see now that I probably see mine because it's my post and others see theirs for the same reason but we don't see each others. That makes sense... issue resolved. Thank you again.

It kinda reminds me of the old AOL instant messenger and how people would get into "warning fights" to get their "friends" suspended for a few hours. You had this warning percentage and if it got to 100, you were unable to login for twelve hours or so.

... but anyone could warn you for any reason they wanted. It didn't have to be an admin or anything. I never messed with those features, but I remember seeing friends at like 85%, asking them why, and they told me... lol

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?

Hope everyone has the blessing of undying motivation for "The Dark Mod 15th Anniversary Contest". Can't wait to see the many magnificent missions you all may have planned. Good luck, with an Ace!
