Conversion of ALL fan missions to i18n system (important)

I know thats not the intention here (probably just the way the topic and the tone evolved) but this type of personnal adressing should stop and perhaps you guys are missing most of points raised. None of this should keep translators from doing their work on parallel.

+1 as this thread has been going of the rails a tad.

what happens if you correct what you see as a language mistake in a fm which in its originality wasnt exactly a language mistake but wriiten as intended because the person that wrote the text in the fm is not supposed to be intelligent enought to have written in such perfect english. (am refering to a characture in a fm as having wrote the text that is read by the player)

 

eg.

 

i writte dis bee cos I bee fick.

 

are you going to rewrite this in a fm to read

 

I wrote this because I am thick.

 

so that when people replay the fm in english they find that the village idiot has suddenly had a IQ boost.

 

so my take on this is that you are irratating people by correcting what looks like spelling mistakes and improper english, when you should leave the english text as originally written.

One man's questioning is another's daily job. ;)

 

That kind of things is usually only found in readables, and in all the missions I've seen so far, it's always been obvious that they're written by a dumb guard, or stupid servant, or whatever it can be.

 

No one in his right mind would translate it in proper language.

 

Anything else - i.e. slight mistakes - is clearly an oversight or a mistake, and needs to be corrected. "Key Elizabeth" in the posts above, for example, is clearly an inv_name, and should be corrected.

 

So far, I've never seen any occurence of a line being both too bad for proper english and too good for... "stoopid inglisht" or whatever you call it. If such a thing ever happens, I'll ask the author. :)

Some good new for german people. :)

 

Radiant has translated into german:business as usual, closemouthed shadows, pandora's box, a special delivery, swing, the parcel, thieves, too late and trapped.

And, the dark mod supports the multilanguage system for the texture like the texture into thief's den? If i try to use multilanguage system with it, i see a black box instead the image in game.

I only tried this for GUI images, there you need to use a new material shader for each language. With textures in game (f.i. for street signs), I am not sure this works already.

Added conversion of "the rift" and "somewhere above the city".

 

@Grayman, i think you forgot to add in the package the "generic_loading_bar1.tga" image because i see black rectangle instead loading bar. :/

Hi, I was translating the FM "The Outpost". This FM has the splash screen in .dds format and my attempts to translate that image and then save as .dds have the result of a black splash screen in TDM (but I can see the image in paintshop or in ATI Compressonator). So I need some instructions on the compatibility. In the wiki there are only the instructions for creating textures.

Which dds mode did you use? (Also generate MIPS.)

Try to put in a white alpha channel for testing. I heard this could be a bug, when it's missing.

 

I've used in ATI COMPRESSONATOR for Doom 3:

 

Directx Texture Compression -> Texture Format: DXT1 (0/1 bit Alpha) ->DXT1 Parameters: No Alpha
