I have been wondering wiether I should ask Gigabyte what they would like to do with my GTX 970, but after watching the above vida and doing some mo0re online research I have logged a support call with them. As I have started using the DSR feature in a lot of games, including TDM (and its looks bloody awesome at 4k). But as soon as I hit 4k (thats 2.5x my current res of 1680*1050) like everyone else on the net I am seeing a slowdown.

What a timing. I'm about to finally buy a gaming pc and this graphics card was on my wish list. What do you guys suggest doing now?

Wait a little until nVidia releases a new but comparatively priced card that corrects this misbehavior. I am almost certain they won't let such a PR debacle pass by without doing anything serious about it.

Well the GTX 970 is still a very good card, just consider it a 3.5GB card. And now that AMD has lowered its prices on R9-290 series card nVidia will surely have to do the same on the 970.

Like the guys on the second video said, if they'd only billed it as a 3.5GB card with a 500MB "supercache" that's 4x the speed of cpu ram, they'd have come out of it smelling like roses. A huge marketing fail rather than a bad card.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

I wouldn't think this would effect anything other than the people that are mad about being lied to. 970 is an excellent card.

Just don't use 1080p with 16xMSAA or 32xMSAA that uses a bunch of VRAM. I have a 780gtx (non Ti version) and I run everything @5760x1200 even with 4xAA some times on 3GB of VRAM so the whole thing is really a non issue and shouldn't effect a purchasing decision really.

I think the whole thing was born out of bit coin miners or people running CUDA applications and noticing when they started using nearly all the VRAM that the performance suffered. There aren't many situations where you're going to encounter a problem especially @1080p.

On a single 1920x1200 montior using 4xAA the jaggies are pretty much non existant unless you get 5" from the screen and get your magnifying glass out.

People are crazy wierdos...and funny.

Just for fun I wish they'd release a video with one of those running around with a gun mounted on its back.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
