STiFU Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Well, there are actually quite interesting things happening with nVidia physX. Have a look at all the particle effects and the dynamic groundsnow in Batman Arkham Origins. Another great example is the first (!) Bioshock. Ok, no real-time simulation, but still!! There is still the question, however, whether you actually NEED that precise realtime physics calculations. I know I don't! Quote
Arcturus Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 There's this real time presentation from Nvidia of soft bodies plus water simulation: Quote It's only a model...
lost_soul Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I was playing TDM the other day and I threw a body in the water. I do that frequently. I can imagine a day in gaming where dragging an object around in the water will cause a displacement and make the water swish around.... no pre-computed animations/shaders, no clipping problems, pure physics calculations! EDIT: That video is pretty awesome. Actually ragdoll physics in general are still pretty impressive, even those in TDM. Its so weird when I play older games like Urban Terror. Every time I die, I see the same two animations... lol Edited December 15, 2013 by lost_soul Quote --- War does not decide who is right, war decides who is left.
STiFU Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Morrowind had that! ^^ Also Crysis 2 and a quick google search turns up numerous more results... http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/best-water-effectsphysics-in-gaming-56drowned-29342285/ Well, to me the realtime 3d graphics world seems to improve steadily. Bikerdude Posted December 16, 2013 Author Report Posted December 16, 2013 Thought you guys might find this interesting, Athalle created a thread over on ttlg dedicated to Thief authors and now TDM authors! http://www.ttlg.com/...265#post2224265 - Video my Athalle and the music mixed by moi. http://youtu.be/ATATp3I-EmQ Quote

lost_soul Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hwLHdBTQ7s Is there anybody out there who DIDN'T have this idea when they were little? I certainly did! Still... Using it to burn out LEDs is pretty lame. I think it would be better as an SSD sanitizer or CD sanitizer. Bikerdude Posted December 20, 2013 Author Report Posted December 20, 2013 Is there anybody out there who DIDN'T have this idea when they were little? I certainly did! That arc is crying out to be hooked to a vandergraff generator or some other kind of voltage multiplier, awesome. Below we have quite an awesome video, but then when you have an advertising budget bigger than the GDP of iceland.... http://youtu.be/EC-zB2aSXXM I still hate football though.... Quote
STiFU Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I love football! After all, I live in Dortmund and you just gotta love football here! But that commercial is just way too boring compared to the price they probably payed for it... Quote

demagogue Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Found this perusing the DayZ forums... looks interesting. http://survivetheforest.com/hom/ http://survivetheforest.com/trailer/ Looks pretty cool. I imagined a game like this but set on a living alien planet, and heavier on the basic survival part early on. Then you would really not know what to expect. Quote What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.
STiFU Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Absolutely hilarious!! I so wanna watch this!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72RqpItxd8M Quote

Bikerdude Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 I have been listening to this 2hr mix-track video for the last week or so, f***ing awesome! every-time I listen to it while mapping I keep hearing new nuances.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzI00jEaJ4Q Quote
Bikerdude Posted January 10, 2014 Author Report Posted January 10, 2014 Just watched the M83 trilogy sifi-music videos - totally epic! Quote
Sotha Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 I dunno how this presents itself to you, but for me it seems like an ordinary day at the academia. Some kind of (collaborative) research going on, the professori didn't supervise properly, there is strong symbolism of discontinuity (the reaper), and it ends with a lecture by some international high-level scientist, where the local professor kneels in the before the authority of the other. Worth to watch, even with the music only. Quote Clipper-The mapper's best friend.
lost_soul Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) I always loved the music in this game, ever since I was a kid... and those are the best remixes I've ever heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9PFyXNZPYc Also, I swear that lady talking later in the video is the person who played the role of the female scientist in Penumbra Black Plague!
