Architecture and lighting are brilliant, and the sound is remarkably atmospheric.

Unfortunately, this mission is very very very very boring. There is nothing less interesting than being presented with a million locked doors and having to guess which one the key you just found opens. Many of the puzzles are just not logically constructed, and the endless key hunt just becomes annoying.

My missions:           Stand-alone                                                      Duncan Lynch series

Down and Out on Newford Road              the Factory Heist

                                                                                                  A House Call

                                                                                                  The House of deLisle

From my point of view this mission is broken. Way too many things can go wrong.

Spoiler

I used noclip and even bound a key to show all frobs until I discovered I am supposed to go down as following place: Lowest level, where that one coffin you can frob is, there is a plate which somehow must have a way to open. noclip through that plate, swim, and then I got have clement's key.

Maybe someone has a hint how to open that plate to get to clement's key normally so I know whether it is a bug or not...

My Review;

I gotta admit, that first room has pretty janky polygon work (and the lighting!). Didn't expect much from this map - but I played on...

It got better, so the saying goes. Alot better, in fact - even to the point I'd call this one a true Hidden Gem. With most excellent, expected and UN-expected twists & turns. It does help to keep your eyes peeled for the vast assortment of hidden switches, levers, buttons and other over-used mechanisms the Builders seem fond of...(Some of these are needed to fullfill mission objectives!)

Good SFX as well, I think there was even some custom voice over work; always a nice touch to give each mission some personality.

Stop reading this Review, and download it now! 👍

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
