Anyone with DR on Mint14?

*to avoid the boring crap, proceed to the asterisk below.

I'm currently running Mageia 2 official on my desktop machine for 3 reasons:

1. I can run DarkRadiant on it. I found this impossible on Mageia 3 (Cauldron).

2. I can play streaming videos on Amazon. Also impossible in Mageia 3 cauldron due to total lack of hal (it's gone, permanently). hal compiles fine from source but crashes when starting the service.

3. I can run Netflix beautifully.

 

I Was recently at a friend's house and saw his LinuxMint 14 running. He was showing off Netflix (which I can also run)... his only reason for staying with Windows up to that point. We installed hal and flash-player and Amazon streaming videos worked perfectly in chromium.

 

*To make this long crap short...

I'm looking to have a single boot machine, up to date with recent packages including KDE 4.10, to do all the usual plus netflix, amazon prime, etc. I know I can do this with Mint 14.

But what about DR on that platform?

4. DR - installed - draws the window but crashes upon loading a map.

Ooh, I almost forgot. Need to install the real nvidia driver... doh! That should fix DR, I hope.

 

Yep. That did the trick. All systems go..

 

If I had done my research first, I would have realized that Mint 14 is = Ubuntu 12.10.
