Standalone Requests: Textures

Anyone have the link again for the D3 retextured mod that has been mentioned? There are some textures, like lava and a few boards, that are used across several maps and I'd like to find easy replacements for them if possible.

On the one hand, they're pretty 1-to-1 replacements. On the other hand, if id hasn't gone after them being released here, it stands to reason they wouldn't go after them in our project either, as the case is the same (a free release; nothing about requiring it used in a mod). And it does seem they are made from scratch; they use the term "remade" throughout, and needing to re-bump map them, etc. Also, things like lava & boards are pretty generic that it shouldn't matter anyway.

 

Edit: After looking at them, we should talk about this mod as a resource for the "D3 texture used in an FM" issue, since they may have their counterparts right here. Well, that may be what you were just talking about now that I read your post again.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

I made a couple of fan patched versions of a few missions where Doom 3 textures were replaced with TDM equivalents

to fix the broken Enhanced Ambient around 1.05 or 1.06.

 

One I recall doing was Thieves.

The texture:

 

textures/hell/boards1

 

was replaced by

 

textures/darkmod/wood/boards/scratched

 

as I recall. IMHO the darkmod texture looks much better.

 

You could probably just copy the image to the Doom 3 folder path and be done with it for that one.

I would say check it out. Doesn't look like it replaces any of the plasma particles I'm working on though. Trying to get mine a bit closer to the originals. My first attempt isn't so great.

There are a number of D3 light textures that need replacing. These are small images that control the distribution of light, and may similate grills and other things that block out some of the light.

 

Anyone interested in helping with a few? If so, I'll post the images of the ones we need here.
