Greenlight?

I'm really interested in this particular project and i was wondering (sorry if it was already discussed) if you guys have considered taking this to steam's greenlight when the standalone gets released, because i really think that this deserves more attention and that greenlight is a really good place to make your game known.

What do you think about this subject??

Judging by the thread I posted, it looks like it's still on the cards for when standalone happens (and that seems to happening far more quickly than seemed possible last year).

I've been wondering whether TDM could announce itself as standalone once a certain number of FMs are playable in 2.0. Or would we want to wait until all FMs are ready? Just a thought.

Speaking as an FMA I'd feel very left out if TDM went standalone and bunch of FM's were playable except mine. I'd feel like i wasn't one of the cool kids who got invitied to the party. Anyone who's made an FM has made a huge contribution to TDM. Lets wait until all the FMs are playable in 2.0 so everyone can feel a part of the celebration once we go standalone.

Not sure you're asking the question the right way. We've already announced & had news posts that the aim of the next version is standalone. It hasn't been a secret, although granted we could always use more publicity. And it's going to actually be standalone when it's released standalone with 2.0. Until then, you're either talking about 1.8 or what's on SVN, both of which are sort of beside the point from the player's perspective.

The issue of the 2.0 compliant FMs is just a different issue. Hopefully all will be ready in time; I think it's possible since there's plenty of time & the fixes are relatively small issues (replacing textures). IMO 2.0 should be released when it's ready. Even if a few FMs weren't ready, this isn't too big a deal, I think. In what I've tested anyway, even FMs that are not 100% compliant are usually like 95% as they already are and perfectly playable in 2.0, and the missing 5% stuff isn't noticeable anyway. Only a very few don't open at all, and they're at the top of the list to get fixed.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Yeah, I was wondering about the situation if a handful of FMs were going to have serious issues becoming 2.0 compliant (I'm thinking especially about werebeast/zombie models/animations - don't really know what I'm talking about but I get the impression they're the major hurdles to overcome) - if a few FMs were going to take months to sort out when 90% of the other FMs were ready, would we hold off until they were all sorted? However -

ST's response made me realise that I could be starting to generate unnecessary FUD* about a scenario that will hopefully not arise, and (if it does) we can deal with it then when we know what there is to deal with, rather than worrying needlessly about it now.

Sorry everyone. As you were.

The more quality games Greenlight has available on it, even free, the more valuable it is for players to go to it and develop a loyalty to it, the more people will give money to the paid games. Similar thing with Steam generally.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
