Installation of TDM 2.0 with ubuntu 13.04

Hi!

Since I am trying out ubuntu 13.04 right now, I thought that I should try installing TDM 2.0. So I checked the wiki and tried my best.

As it is a standalone version now, I saved the TDM Updater (tdm_update_linux.zip) in the folder ~/.darkmod/ (instead of in a doom3 folder)

(btw: why does it need to be a hidden folder?).

I extracted the file, made it executable by right-clicking it

(Properties->Permissions->Allow executing file as program (Checkbox)).

Then I double-clicked the tdm_update.linux. Magically files did appear (also a folder 'fms' containing the training mission and tears of st lucia).

But now I'm stuck. Double-clicking the .pk4 files did not work. Dash gives no results for neither darkmod nor tdm. How do I get to play it?

Well, I'm pretty sure I provoked some severe facepalms by now, but every help is highly appreciated...

Under Linux, the general rule is if you want to execute a binary in the current directory, you call it like this:

./thedarkmod.x86

(not thedarkmod.x86)

If you try typing thedarkmod.x86 while it is in the current directory, it will indeed tell you there is no such file or directory.

You can double-click thedarkmod.x86 once its made executable.

Remember that file names in Linux are case sensitive.

Also, run the updater in a terminal so you can see the output. It will tell you "Your TDM installation is up to date".

Ah, now I see what the computer is actually doing! I needed to find out how to run a programm from the terminal, but google knew.

Sorry for being so stupid, but I'm willing to learn. Thanks a lot!

I wonder if you have the boost libraries installed? I'm not SURE if that's the problem, but I think TDM requires them. Hopefully one of the devs who is familiar with Linux can answer that. I'm familiar with Linux, I'm juist not a developer.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
