Tears of Saint Lucia problem

I am completely new to this game / mod.

I have a major problem with the Tears of Saint Lucia.

I'm in the cathedral, and have slain all the priests and guards.

I am in the priest's bed-chambers with the chest. I have the triangle lock-pick, but am completely unable to get the chest to open. Even when I set lock-picking to "auto", it refuses to open. The lock-picking starts out green, makes some lock-picking noises, and then goes red. At no point does the chest actually open. I've tried it about a dozen times, having to reload from saved games.

In the trainer, I also managed to "jam" a lock several times. However, in the trainer, setting lock-picking to "auto" fixed that. Tears of Saint Lucia seems to have decided that I simply cannot open the chest, which is necessary to succeed at the mission. Not cool.

Please help.

I'm new too, fun, isn't it? :-)

It does sound like a key (pun intended) element is being missed, like switching picks. Do you get the different feedback sound indicating you are past that tumbler? (With auto, the third series of sounds should end with the success sound, instead of "missed it" sound.)

There are more details in the wiki page explaining lockpicking: http://wiki.thedarkm...lay#Lockpicking

But note that auto isn't "automatic" from my understanding, it just limits tries with an individual pick to three, then gives a pass, but you still might have more tumblers to work on, requiring either pick. The wiki page on lockpicking doesn't make that clear, it makes it sound like auto opens it for you. Perhaps try the Trainer setting instead of Auto? That lengthens the amount of time you have to hear the moment of release.

G'luck and welcome to the fun!

PS: I have more troubles picking up the stuff within chests than getting the chests open!

It is beginning to seem like another lock-pick might be required......but I haven't a clue where to find it. Personally speaking, I don't think it's fun to get this far only to discover I'm missing an essential tool, which is small and could be hidden anywhere on the map. :(

So far as I can tell, that map does not have the other pick. If it does, I'd very much like to know where to find it.

Both lockpicks are in your inventory when you start the mission.

The only way you wouldn't have one or the other is if you chose to drop it when you were in the shop.

As you step through your inventory, the lockpicks are next to each other.

*nods, probably want to restart the mission if you are lacking a lockpick I'm afraid; since you start with them in this case, there isn't a duplicate set hidden on the map (afaik).

I use the "p" shortcut to access the lockpicks rather than going through all inventory, hit it again to get to the other one. (There's Snake and Triangle.)

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
