I was surprised when the blob seemed to be the playing character.

I have nothing against the retro-look. For some games it works really well, like FTL.

Somehow, I think that game would have benefited from a Mark of the Ninja style graphics, though. But maybe it isn't in their budget? (Although making sharp vector characters doesn't seem technically more difficult than making blocky sprite chars.)

Not everyone has the skill(patience and stuff also) to make 3d art. This is also noticeable with how many "minecraft"-style games come out, it's the 3d equivalent to pixel art. ;)

No, of course not *all* pixel art ever is because the person drawing/animating it can't do anything "better", but still. There's a reason in there somewhere.

It's baffling to me that they went with raster graphics and yet decided to use vector fonts (or what appear to be vector fonts). It's incredibly jarring - they should definitely use a bitmap font instead (like FTL). Also, that is a strange MGS reference.

I don't think about pixel art as retro anymore, it's an art style that stands on its own.

Yeah. Generally, I don't mind if games break with photorealism in favour of a different graphical style, and pixel art is one possibility.

The video looks good; the beginning has a cute ''They are waiting for you, Gordon... in the tessssst chamber!'' vibe, and then bam, it's something completely different.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. Perhaps an unpopular opinion: TDM team might benefit from someone with actual QA experience; someone with naturally and professionally developed curiosity, who is interested in how and why things work, how they break At least to me it's kind of mind-boggling how untested some rather important features are (first the absence alert feature for items, now the rope +body carry behavior).

I love playing The Dark Mod when it's cold in my place. Bonus points when it's a bit (or even very) dark and it's raining, too.
