Raptor: Call of The Shadows just turned 20 last April fool's. Not only does it have a fantastic soundtrack, but I think it's objectively one of the best games ever. And I don't mean "I like it personally", I mean "every aspect of the game's design is inarguably honed to perfection". Thief 2 is my favorite game of all time, but it does have some glitches and bad design at some points, and I simply can't argue for less quality against more quality.

And this is a great remix of the game's music tracks. My favorite is the mission 1 theme at 1:48

I'm happy to see the Portal 2 soundtrack mentioned here, I think it was generally enjoyed when the game came out but forgotten too quickly. To me, it's both a great soundtrack and a very important electronic music album, unlike anything else. From pumping glitchy techno to atmospheric layers of square waves, from moody ballads to

, it manages to span several genres while remaining fresh and cohesive.

Other personal favorites are the soundtracks for

,
,
,
and Quake.

Take this post as half recession, half homage to the time when the squeekee "music" meant upcoming fun!!!

Johann Strauss Jr. and Edvard Grieg presented by Manic Miner (the music starts at 1:47):

This was one of my first games ever and I had to fight with my brother to play it .. Didn't play it much though... As younger... And weaker...

As a smaller, weaker sibling, all you need is a little bit of cunning use of household objects to gain dominance over the electronics. That music was, in some ways, the stuff of nightmares. At the same time, it was pretty nostalgic =P

One of the first things I ever learned to play on a piano, oddly enough. It's so simple, but you immediately sound like the broodiest of musicians. Fun fact: the guy who did the dumb Goldeneye face capture for Max in the first game had a

Funny though, after loading on ZX Spectrum, I felt double relief: that the loading is over (sometimes it took too much time), and that the sound of loading's over.

And our fightings had a set of rules, like no punches in the head and you know where and also no use of external household objects :)... Actually I remember that in the course every single time a rule had been broken... And then the real fight began :)

A lot of posts here reminded me of the time I've "lost" by gaming.

I think that also these pieces are worth of mention:

This one was fine because in Syberia it meant you solved some puzzle:

Hehe. My first thought was, "OMG! Another person who has played Syberia!" (Since I've never met another person that has played Syberia). Then I realized that its not Syberia, its Cyberia and that I still haven't met someone else who's played this game.

Hope that it isn't too off topic in this off topic thread. Never heard of Cyberia till your post. After reading some reviews I'm somehow not surprised that you are in relation to it lonesome wolf. The reviews had been quite "discouriging". But reviews are sometimes wrong. Why did you enjoy it?

I've played Syberia 1 and 2 but judging by your tone you enjoyed them far more than I did =P

Also played both of them and liked them, especially the first one, maybe because adventures were in decline and the indie adventure revival only far future. But mostly because of the specific aesthetics (after playing Valadilene I realized that the old industrial architecture in my city has its beauty). On the other hand, the music is quite boring without the sentimental relation to the game.

I love space, so I thought I'd reinstall Freespace 2 again and check out all the FSOpen stuff. During the tedious setup process I tried to remember other awesome space games...

and I remembered Star Control 2...

how I haven't finished this one yet is beyond me. Also it has amazing music, it's so hard to decide for one track... let's go with the weirdest one

Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.
