Square Enix and Amazon.com announce Thief Mod Contest

Submitting someone elses work (twice!) without knowledge permission or credit? That's pretty damn low. Hopefully Gecko receives any prizes the work wins, and not whichever shady bastard submitted the works.

Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600K @ 3.4ghz stock clocks
8gb Kingston 1600mhz CL8 XMP RAM stock frequency
Sapphire Radeon HD7870 2GB FLeX GHz Edition @ stock @ 1920x1080

Those damn thieves!

But seriously that is pretty terrible. I wonder if EM would even care... Probably not, sadly.

Amazon is hosting the videos. I would expect some delay in communication.

Oh thats awesome and well deserved! Congrats Moonbo!!

Looks like Moonbo won

One winner from each of the two categories will receive a host of prizes from key partners, including:

o A high-end gaming rig from AMD which includes an AMD Radeon™ R9 290X graphics card

o An all-expenses paid trip to E3 2014 with Square Enix

o Steam code for all Square Enix Games with the matching Prima Guide

o A bundle of game development books on Kindle

o An Amazon Kindle DX

So maybe Moonbo you can slap some sense into those silly Frenchies when you see them in person! :P

Haha, thanks everyone! As far as the swag, I'll be taking the E3 and Eidos Montreal trips but my wife wasn't too fond of the idea of me wasting any *more* time on gaming, so I took the cash value of the AMD computer and Steam codes instead :-P. I did get a redemption code for an e-book titled “Game Development Essentials: An Introduction” by Jeannie Novak - if anyone wants it just post on this thread and I'll send it over.

You know, when I first heard about the contest I thought that The Dark Mod just by itself was going to be the hands down winner (I mean, the team's effectively made a whole new entry in the franchise from scratch). So I'm glad that a TDM map was chosen as the winner.

*Holds up imaginary trophy*

This one's for you guys.

But you should walk having internal dignity. Be a wonderful person who can dance pleasantly to the rhythm of the universe.

Would be hilarious to see this quote as part of an acceptance speech on their contest page.

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
