Minor Bug/Glitch in DR

Recommended Posts

When I create a cylinder, DR no longer displays the interconnecting lines between its top and bottom. The effect being that I only see two lines when viewing the selection from the Z-X perspective.

I have attached an image to illustrate the above comment.

This is a new issue that I have never encountered before.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for pointing out that thread, the thing is that this literally happened today for no apparent reason...I am running a newer driver 335.23 which was working perfectly fine before.

I will try rolling back, anyone know a good driver version that will work?

EDIT

Just rolled back to 320.49 - and everything is back to normal!

[05:49:46 AM] Hi, my name is Goutham. How may I help you?
[05:50:36 AM] biker dude: Hello, I would like to log a driver support query.
[05:51:10 AM] Goutham: Could you please elaborate the query you have
[05:51:37 AM] biker dude: The very latest driver is causing a 3D drawing issue in a app that I and 20-30 other people are having. The app in question is called Darkradiant.
[05:52:10 AM] Goutham: What is the model number of the card you are using and the Windows OS you are using
[05:52:27 AM] biker dude: GTX670 (gigabyte windforce)
[05:52:29 AM] Goutham: Do you get any error message with the card or its drivers
[05:52:39 AM] Goutham: What is the driver version that you are using with the card
[05:52:51 AM] biker dude: nope, but I diagnosed it was the latest driver, by rolling back to much older drivers.
[05:53:13 AM] biker dude: 337.61
[05:54:33 AM] biker dude: Rolling back to 314.xx fixed the issue, but that driver is then a bit old for the latest games
[05:54:55 AM] Goutham: What is the Windows OS you are using
[05:55:18 AM] biker dude: Atm windows 7 x64 sp1, but I verified the issue under windows 8 pro x64 as well.
[05:55:36 AM] Goutham: ok
[05:56:10 AM] biker dude: I have logged a call on the forum that that application I am having the issue, givbe me a sec to find the link for you
[05:56:25 AM] Goutham: Sure
[05:56:55 AM] biker dude: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/16203-minor-bugglitch-in-dr/page__p__343771__hl__bikerdude__fromsearch__1#entry343771
[05:57:25 AM] biker dude: I am a senior Developer on that forum, so when I find the fix for this issue I will let the rest of the forum know.
[05:57:43 AM] Goutham: Have you tried the 337.50 drivers as well
[05:58:00 AM] biker dude: yes, same issue
[05:58:22 AM] biker dude: To be honest I didn't tray EVERY driver between 337.xx and 314.xx
[05:59:07 AM] Goutham: This is the BETA Driver available
[05:59:08 AM] biker dude: try even, as that would just take too long, but - if NVidia are serious about helping me with this I will work my way up from 314.xx to find out which driver is causing the issue
[05:59:51 AM] Goutham: If you are experiencing issues with a specific driver let me know on what exactly occurs
[06:00:01 AM] Goutham: If the game play performance goes slow
[06:00:05 AM] biker dude: ok give me a sec
[06:00:48 AM] Goutham: Sure
[06:02:16 AM] biker dude: Ok thus far the only drivers I have tested that show the issue are 337.61, 337.50, 335.23.
[06:02:47 AM] biker dude: so on the face of it, it looks like the 335 series and above are causing the issue.
[06:03:49 AM] Goutham: And have you contacted the game developers as well - Because the updates should be from both the ends
[06:04:00 AM] biker dude: someone else in the thread I linked you mentioned that the 320.49, 334.89 driver dosent suffer from the issue.
[06:04:33 AM] Goutham: I can surely forward the same to the concerned team - If the issues are with a specific application then there could be something wrong with the applications support
[06:05:18 AM] biker dude: I am part of the team that Develops Darkradiant! the issue is with the 335.xx Geforce driver. As NVidia user user an older driver and the ATi users don't suffer from the issue.
[06:06:09 AM] Goutham: Sure, please provide me with the log files for the same
[06:06:14 AM] Goutham: I will forward it
[06:06:19 AM] biker dude: The info available to me atm, points to the issue only started happening on GeForce driver 335.xx and above.
[06:06:28 AM] biker dude: Ok, thanks you.
[06:06:46 AM] biker dude: will you give them the link I gave you above..?
[06:06:49 AM] Goutham: But we need the crash report or files to reproduce the issues
[06:07:34 AM] biker dude: there is not crash report to give as the app never crashed, its a live bug that can be reproduced at will and on the fly, all the time.
[06:07:49 AM] Goutham: ok
[06:08:04 AM] Goutham: Provide us with the screen shot and further details on the same
[06:08:11 AM] biker dude: The file/software the driver team will need is a copy of the Datkmod and Darkradiant - www.thedarkmod.com
[06:08:39 AM] biker dude: there is a screenshot in that forum link I have you, but will give you another forum link with some more screenshots.
[06:08:47 AM] biker dude: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/15729-darkradiant-181-pre-release-test/page__st__75__p__340561#entry340561
[06:09:26 AM] Goutham: I do not see any screen shot in this
[06:09:58 AM] biker dude: 1 sec
[06:10:08 AM] Goutham: Sure
[06:10:48 AM] biker dude: Ah you need to be logged in to see the images, 1 sec while I upload them to my image hosting site
[06:11:29 AM] Goutham: And when you say the 3D drawing issue - Is it that there are glitches or are there any distorted image or lower performance
[06:12:36 AM] biker dude: http://i.minus.com/iGgySwM4Sv14.JPG
[06:12:43 AM] biker dude: http://i.minus.com/im3IYlDk4LBHN.JPG
[06:12:59 AM] biker dude: Those are the missing images from the forum links I gave you.
[06:14:54 AM] Goutham: We cannot open these images could you please take a screen shot of the same and attach them using imgur
[06:15:00 AM] Goutham: www.imgur.com
[06:16:11 AM] biker dude: The issue is described in the forum posts I linked you, but in a nutshell, imaging a cylinder made of a sheet of paper. You would normally see the sides and the ends, with the 335.xx driver your only see lines at the ends and the middle not the sides of the tube - does that make sense..?
[06:16:34 AM] biker dude: 1 sec
[06:16:39 AM] Goutham: Sure
[06:17:05 AM] biker dude: http://imgur.com/YuN1RLM,JURVM2U
[06:17:16 AM] biker dude: http://imgur.com/YuN1RLM,JURVM2U#1
[06:17:56 AM] biker dude: those other image links I gave you were direct links, so should have worked btw
[06:18:49 AM] Goutham: Thank you
[06:19:47 AM] biker dude: Ok, dose the sheet of paper tube analogy now make sense..?
[06:21:59 AM] biker dude: Elo..?
[06:22:48 AM] Goutham: I will have this forwarded to our Level 2 support and we would suggest you to continue using the older drivers until then
[06:23:09 AM] biker dude: ive just been re-reading my own forum thread and it looks like the 334.89 driver is also causing the same issue.
[06:23:20 AM] Goutham: ok
[06:23:53 AM] biker dude: Can you give me a reference number for this support call..?
[06:24:12 AM] biker dude: I will post it in the first forum thread I linked you so I can keep track of it.
[06:24:20 AM] Goutham: Once we get disconnected from the chat you will get an email with the copy our chat conversation
[06:25:05 AM] Goutham: You will also get the reference number in the same
[06:25:48 AM] biker dude: ah sweet., can I confirm what email address I used..?
[06:25:58 AM] Goutham: b1k3rdude@*******.com
[06:26:11 AM] biker dude: hehe [ninja'd]
[06:26:43 AM] biker dude: ok thanks, that is all for now. Whats the average turn around for this sort of thing..?
[06:27:43 AM] Goutham: There is no specific ETA I'm sorry
They work according to USA PDT Time zone 9:0: - 6:00 PM Weekdays
[06:27:53 AM] biker dude: ok, no probs.
[06:28:42 AM] biker dude: In the mean time I will see if my Dev guy who works on DR can work around the driver until you guys hopefully fix it.
[06:29:01 AM] Goutham: Sure
[06:29:13 AM] biker dude: Grand, ok, I need a coffee, so am off, thanks again.
[06:29:23 AM] Goutham: Anytime
[06:29:28 AM] biker dude: laters.
[06:29:29 AM] 'biker dude' disconnected ('Concluded by End-user').

Morning

nVidia are officially looking into this for us now!

Morning

Sweet! that's good news!

Well, what prompted me to log the bug report in the first instance was because some one on the nvidia driver team must be a Darkmod/Darkradiant fan, because at some point Darkradiant was being auto detected in the 3D apps list in the driver and "Threaded Optimization" was being set to off - which the end user would have to do manually each time they installed the driver.

I look forward to the update.

Response via Email 04/24/2014 05:14 PM

Thanks for the update. We're able to replicate the failure in our lab and the bug has been escalated to our development to investigate. Hopefully we can get this fix and released in a future driver update soon. I will notify you as soon as a driver with the fix is available. Thanks for bring this to our attention

Best regards,

Hi

1. yes you need to download the whole game (its free) from - http://www.thedarkmo...wnload-the-mod/ and the Darkradiant editor can be found here - http://www.thedarkmo...ission-authors/

2. no all defaults will be fine.

3. all defaults are fine, but someone at nVidia must have used Darkradiant because only driver setting I would change has already been changed by default (Threaded Optimization, OFF)

4. just create a rectangle, select that, then select create cylinder, then remove the rectangle, then view the cylinder side on and you will see the problem - I have attached a map with the above done.

5. I have 2x 20" NEC 20WXGX2 pro's connected via DVI @1680*1050

6. It occurring on multiple systems - http://forums.thedar...197#entry344197

kind regards

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
