Its sat in my download que atm, So I havnt had a chance to look at it. But Ive been looking forward to this mod for a while.

wow, i have never heard of that mod/expansion pack before.

as much as i love t2 - isn't it kinda late for a mod using that engine?

then again i have played t2 just last spring and while it definetly looked dated it's was still acceptable and even had it's "oooh pretty!" moments.

kind regards

gleeful

Hello!

As far as I know, T2x is a very "old" project.

It may be, that the T2 engine is not up to date, but visual effects are half of a game.

Gameplay ist the other half. - And what I have seen in the trailer is great: new enemies, new weapons and great cut scenes.

Those guys got best out of that old and venerable T2 engine ;) .

I don't think so. I think I would've actually preferred to have Thief: Deadly Shadows be done on the old Thief 2 dark engine than how it was done. So, in some respects, I feel T2X will somewhat fulfill those wishes, even though the main character isn't Garrett.

Bottom line is that I've reinstalled and played Thief 2 every now and then several times since its launch, but I don't think I'll be doing the same with Thief 3. Thief 3's good, but just not the same. For me, gameplay is far more important than flashy or updated graphics and Thief 2 has stood the test of time. Hopefully some Thief 3 fan missions will inspire me to re-load Thief 3 and learn to appreciate that game/engine more. In the meantime, though, T2X will be fun to try and I look forward to jumping back into the Dark engine.

Is that niggle a gameplay thing, or just some hole in the plot or something? :)

Niether, you'll probably know exactly what i'm talking about when it's released. It's really nothing major at all, and definetly won't detract from the gameplay at all.

I think Thief 2x will push the Dark Engine to the limit and I can't wait to try it out.

I never really understood this need to push the Dark Engine to its limits. The concept holds about as much excitement as the speeding up an old lady's stairmaster. I just hope the game is good. :)

:) Well, I wouldn't put the dark engine in that same category. It had a lot of potential to build upon. We're still seeing neat tricks that it can pull off. Who knows what secrets are hidden within. To push it to the limit is to discover the unknown.

I've watched the trailer now. :)

In terms of architecture it isn't as impressive as the Hammerite Imperium, and I doubt I'll use any of those newfangled weapons. But as a solid sneaking experience it looks great, and should take its place alongside T1 and T2 rather than just being an expansion. The cut scenes looked great too.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
