Zombie's rock pack

I agree with the specs, but tuning them down isn't hard to do. But the bumps are just fantastic. The stone looks very plastic to me. :)

Right all done and commited! Original pack size uncompressed 300mb+, got it down to 144mb. At some point I will knock up some skin defs, assuming the UV's will work well with our existing rock textures.

@Springs, have a look at the models when you get some free time as some of them have some minor UV corruption.

@nhohr, yer. better late than never though :D

Now on to the dirty/grimy textures in that other thread ;)

If you need any custom content, please feel free to ask, I enjoy making environment stuff

Hey Zombie! welcome to the forums mister. And no thank you, for letting TDM use your cool models and textures!

Regarding the normals, are they texture specific or model specific? if the latter than I should be able to re-skin the rocks with other rock TDM textures.

And regarding nbohr's question, we could do with more decorative statues and the like (best to look at the ones we have atm). I guess the best way forward with this is to get you dev access to the SVN so you can access all our resources etc. If your up for that I will PM Springheel/Taaaki to get you the relevant perms etc.

Hey guys!

What I mean about the rocks is that per rock and it's small variation have a specific norm/diff/spec

If you want to use the mesh with a tiling texture, by all means go for it :)

In regards to statues, I've never made them before, but I will give it a try, always wanted to make some! For the moment I have terrible internet in the hotel I am staying in (living in France until End of october)

When I get back to canada I'll take a looksee at your content for sure, you guys have made some pretty steller stuff :D

Welcome! :) Thanks for your contribution; those rocks are excellent! Making good-looking caves is hard with patches and brushes, so they are a godsend.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Yes, welcome. That is some excellent work you've done. I could use your rocks right now. Wish they were available. :D

You could just download the rock pack from Moddb and pack it with your mission though it will bloat the size of your release.

(And it won't be tweaked...) but that's a valid option. And Biker can always supply a zip with the tweaked versions for you too.

You never need to wait for a new TDM release to include new assets but it's preferred since adding those assets to missions

bloats the downloads section.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

I guess I could've made a DDS version, that would've lowered the size of the pack considerably.

Next time I'll make 2 packs for you to download :)

EDIT: Also for some reason all my addons are missing on moddb, no idea why :(

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
