Wow, and what a journey it was. From TD Demo to SL Demo to first public release to stand-alone and nowadays to gfx engine upgrades.

Massive respect and a big round of applause to everyone involved and the whole community around them. Special cheers go out to Springheel, who has been around and continously contributing like a beast since what feels like forever!! :-)

Where does the time go?!?! I remember playing St. Lucia for the first like it was Yesterday. It completely took my breath away just like the first time I played T1. Many thanks to everyone who made this amazing mod possible. Everyone from the TDM team to the people who support TDM by playing it's FMs.

A big thanks and round of applause to The Dark Mod team and the Thief fan mission makers for the huge amount of effort that has gone into making the TDM one of the best computer game mods ever! :) Personally, I think the only thing that really compares with it in fps game mods is the Black Mesa Half-Life 1 recreation mod for Half-Life 2, and that's saying something. :)

Oh wow, has it been so long already? I still remember the first samples of Thief's Den and how it showed us suddenly that if we wanted to release something to the public, we actually would have to start working on silly things like functional menus :D

Happy Anniversary everyone!

Congratulations and thank you for bringing this game to us.

This project is a labour of love, an artistic view, continuation of the life and soul of what was most dear to us in the old Thief series. You will never be forgotten.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

It all seems unreal, somehow. Has it already been five years?

Time sure flies.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Thanks for bringing the anniversary into light. It brings a lot of memories, like when I first stumbled upon TDM in video from Training mission some 3 years ago... I was really struck! It looked like original thief but with better graphics and more interactive. I thought that to make it nicer would somehow be wrong (and I'm happy to be wrong about it). And by playing Tears of St. Lucia I became definitely a fan. Great years so far... ;)

I don't know the mod for that loing, but the development that has taken lace the last couple of years is definetely amazing. Under 1.07, I couldn't play TDM under Windows fluidly, but under Linux, God knows why. Under 1.08 this issue was solved. And than ....

BOOOOOOOOOM

2.0, standalone released. :)

Whatever will happen to TDM in the future, it will be be amazing, that's for sure.

Happy anniversary TDM.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
