DarkRadiant 2.0.3 pre-release Build

Recommended Posts

  • 3 months later...

I've updated the first post with download links to the most current build from my source tree on github, this is version pre6. Please use this one to record crashdumps. Also, please try to remember what you did right before it crashed, this information is sometimes valuable too.

I'm not looking after tweaks and feature requests, I just want to get hold of these crashes people keep reporting about. Stabilisation is the keyword here.

Re: crashdumps: Save the dump file while the "DarkRadiant.exe has stopped working" popup is still visible, switch to Task Manager, go to the tab showing the processes, right-click DarkRadiant.exe and select Create dump file. Compress it before uploading, it can end up quite large. Upload it somewhere for me to download, please

The installer package still mentions 2.0.2 throughout rather than 2.0.3.

This should not be the case. When launching the .exe linked from the first post, it shows the 2.0.3pre6 name. Maybe the setup wizard is re-using the name of a package already installed on your system?

You're right, I think. I just tried it again, and it turns out that it's only the install folder that mentioned 2.0.2:

That might even have been a folder that I created and named myself.

i seem to be having an issue rendering alphatested shaders

not sure if its a bug or my pc. old version seems the same

1. start editor fresh in fullbright texture mode.

make a room. any normal texture.

make another box alphatested eg.. textures/darkmod/metal/grate/trans_grating01

add light to cover whole room

you will notice the alphatest area is black

2. change view to render lighting view.

alphatest appears but the shader is translucent.

3. return to fullbright texture mode. the alpha test is working as it should

Thanks everybody contributing to the testing phase and this 2.0.3 release.

I know that many of you posted many feature requests and other proposals to this thread, but I'm not in the position to handle them all. I usually try to pick something that fits in my time slots. By counting my contributions over the last year you can tell how many of those slots I had.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
