I understand that there's an audience who dislike the commentary (like when FenPhoenix does the LPs in which he babbles waaay to much for my sense of this). But to me a silent player is not as interesting since you, as a watcher don't know what is the plan of the player. What is he / she trying to achieve atm. What does he / she think? I always like LPs in which the player comments on the current situation (in a gameplay mattered way, so no "shitty jokes" and ruining gameplay feel like Airship said) and as a bonus, it is really nice if the player gives some background information on the map / the game which is playing. All remained with some silent pauses of course :)

Maybe you can try yourself out? (if you want to - I mean it's your LP) :)

If you do the next one with a commentary and we see what people react like.

Keepin' it short to avoid stealing thunder, a friend of mine has been streaming some Dark Mod missions and has turned them into videos with little reviews edited onto the end. They're pretty much what you described, I'll link 'em somewhere when they go up.

Last time I checked, most people don't like LPs with voice overs.

I personally watch LP videos for the commentary - hearing what the player thinks, his/her emotions and so on. Without commentary, I might as well play myself.

In TDM's case, of course, also to hear about the work I helped to create with. :)

Of course, not every one is a good commentor, but I'd rather not watch a video w/o comments at all.

Btw, thank you for making these videos and uploading them - that is quite some work. :) One request tho, would you upload a more high-res version? 480p isn't what I'd want to watch fullscreen. :)

Just to offer a bit of a differing view, it's wonderful to have LP's without commentary available, because sometimes I can't play for a multitude of reasons, and I just want to watch the game, usually with a friend.

So yeah, I like both with and without commentary, both serve a different purpose.

So, thank you!

I think YouTube only allows HD videos if I monetize my videos, which I sure as hell ain't going to do, especially since I also upload 90s TV stuff on my channel.

I know how you feel, even to this day my parents are uncomfortable at the thought of me playing games like Halo again, though they tolerate watching it on YouTube.

Nice! Any news on these already? :)

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
