I'm currently playing In Verbis Virtus ("with the words of might" roughly translated). It's a first person adventure in which you have to solve puzzles by using magic spells. The difference is however, that you cast those spells by directly saying them, so you need a headset.

The system works quiet well and the spells are in a fictive language called Maha'ri (or so), which in addition to the nice graphics and sound design adds a lot to the athmosphere.

I'm not through yet, but it only costs 20 € (I got it for 15 € as it was 25 % off last week), so a big recommendation from my side.

I have this on my wishlist for a while. The voice action seems like a gimmick but when a gimmick doesn't harm the gameplay I have no problems with it. If it serves to give some immersion at least for the first few minutes it might even pay off. And with you guys praising the game this might climb a few steps in my shopping list.

Ah, another good FPS and really entertaining: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (and the old CoJs too)

I think Vampire: The Masquerade has already been mentioned, but there are other lost gems out there. Although all of the following FPS/RPG hybrids are quite buggy, they are still surprisingly freeroam and fun: "Boiling Point", it's sequel or prequel "White Gold", and especially "The Precursors" from DeepShadows! The last two are hard to find as they were never released retail in the west, but they should still be availble from GamersGate or other smaller distribution services. I patched these versions :)!

But is it the Best Department? ;)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Singularity (if you want a Bioshock clone in Soviet Russia) :D

It's now on sales on steam (Activision titles)....it's NOT a masterpiece but if you want see some "futuristic" soviet settings you have no other choice :D

Someone probably said it in this thread already but stalker: shadow of chernobyl. It's sometimes up their with thief when people talk about atmospheric games.

Another game I like, for its stealth but is hard as fuck is far cry 2. People tend to not like this game because it's raw as fuck, and sorta throws you out on your own. It's night and day different from the newer ones. Stealth in it's unforgiving as fuck though if you try to go that route, but when you figure it out it's fun.

Looked at a gameplay vid, dosent look half bad.

Yeah, Gunslinger is great! Not only are there too few western shooter anyway, but the game is really funny: whenever the narrator get's corrected by his listeners, the game will change on the spot :)!

I thought it felt clunky through it's gameplay. Somewhat like Saints Row 2 or Risen 2. A little weak somewhere. Can't really put my finger on it.

Probably it's the weak storyline.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

Start with the prequel Old Blood. It's really not half bad for some hours blasting fun. If you enjoy it head on to NWO.

Speaking of the Amnesia guys, their new game, SOMA, will be out next Tuesday. Very much looking forward to it.

Checked the videos in steam store. Funny how the interiors look like Doom 3, and the exteriors look like Bioshock. Remarkable.

Funny extra info-bit: "soma" means "cute" in my language.

I wonder if the price has dropped enough to make this worth buying.

I played NWO after finishing RTCW before, and even though NWO had its moments, it's tailored too much to today's game audience... which means it will sort of overwhelm you with bombast, the story is thin, the characters excessively cool, and cold blooded, and the main character much too emphasized. If it wasn't so stone old, and the graphics and gameplay so aged, i'd just recommend playing RTCW, but i guess you have so already, so. :)

Shame you don't like Fallout: New Vegas, i almost finished playing it now, and it's an absolute blast. Easily one of my favorite roleplay games of all times. Really had a nice time with it so far.

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
