Guis with columns

It's been more than a year since I've done anything with readable guis, so I kind of forget what's possible. Does anyone know if:

1. It's possible to make a readable with text in columns (like the image below)

2. If so, is there an example in an existing fm?

3. If there isn't an existing example but it can be done, how would it work?

  1. Yes

unsure, but I can't recall seeing it

You need to define two text windows in the gui with the proper sizes

I took a short look at it. It is possible to do this, but it does not only require a custom gui but as well a modified version of the scriptobject to handle it. Will take a deeper look this evening.

I was wrong regarding the script, it does not require any changes. I had a mistake in my gui file causing the text to be out of screen.

There is another issue, though. To differentiate what should go to the first and what should go to the second column, I've included a second body. This setup fully supports xdata, but the readable editor in DR can only readout the title and the first body.

There are two possibilities:

  1. Stick to this which would requier the mapper to manually setup the second column in the xdata file.
  2. Use a two page layout instead. The readable would appear as one paged in the game, but the gui file would be a derivate of a two paged one. This way we could also use the title from the second page for a sub title (like the smaller one below the main title in your image posted, Spring).

Personally I prefer the second attempt.

Here is what I have thus far:

Looks great! I'll come up with a new background image and try this out, thanks! :)

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
