Hecateus Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Somewhat related. Crystal Balls for props? I imagine it can be just a bitmap which always faces the player; but irl it refracts the images behind and it would also refocus nearby lights...which might make for a good puzzle using pagan/magic elemental symbology. Can the 'light' be manipulated in such a fashion? Quote

Can the 'light' be manipulated in such a fashion? We don't have caustics, but you could fake the refraction fairly well using the heat haze shader and a custom distortion map. Quote
VanishedOne Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 The hanging light here is simply a spherical patch with a glass warp texture (plus particle effects, since it's a light). That should work as a basic crystal ball, especially if it had a custom cubemap; though it sounds as though you may want something fancier. Hecateus Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Not sure..but will settle for Gatehouse, as I haven't played that one yet. Quote
Hecateus Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 A Noble Home...had Icecicles...not transparent, but they were there. Did not try to smash. Quote
