No. I already own the game on GOG and on disc but money isn't the problem anyways.

 

Excluding lots of potential fans from playing a free mod is a terrible idea. Why would they do that?

Oh, they probably will include a lot of people by releasing it on Steam. After all it's THE sales platform for games. Anyway, releasing on Steam as a DLC for the GOTY edition was a decision they made. Like it or not, but it is that way.

The problem is that if fans allow this to happen, it will create a precedent for other game companies to monopolize on mods as well and even make players buy the game twice. No matter how cheap the game is.

How can they exactly enforce this when the mod is free. But stupid politics asside I see its available on Moddb aswell - http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-revision/downloads/deus-ex-revision

Folks and I mean CD/GOG version owners (eff u steam fanboys)..use the standalone installer and ignore steam at the end.

Then download Kentie's launcher Kentie.net , extract it into your Deus Ex/System.

Make a copy of the Deusex.exe and rename it to Revision.exe

Now run the Revision.exe..configure it how you see fit...and finally in Data Directories make sure to check everything..you can uncheck BioMod and/or Shifter if you don't want to play with them.

..and that's it. have fun.

Ok, i'm sorry. Not sure why i care anyway. But there's already been a big discussion on ModDB, where the dev's got attacked for not releasing the mod, and then releasing it on Steam. Just don't get it. But then, i don't have to i guess.

Well, that didn't take long, but why release the mod on moddb as it seems that it's the steam mod and needs some tweeking for non steam use, is it an official release to moddb, think I'll get it quick in case it's pulled!

Ive downloaded the above copy if anyone wants it, and on a different not Im currently trying to download DE:Goty. The damn thing has been stuck on 99% for the last few hours, even nuking local content and/or changing the server dosent seem to help - all this for a 402mb bloody download.

Now that the whole Steam Exclusive issue has been partially solved it's time to convince Bjorn to Merge Revision with GMDX when it gets the full release. That would be just perfect.

Well, someone posted a direct exe which worked in the moddb page but it seems they deleted the message. I can't find it. Either way it seems GOG is in communication with the mod makes.

Someone posted download for an Revision.exe which Launched directly to Revision and didnt have the functions of Kenties executable. That's the one that worked for me, but I can't find it now.,

Well I have been trying to down DX:Goty for the last two tays from steam with no luck, so am gonna go look for and "alternative" source.

i've only got the original deux ex so this mod wont work anyway.

most reviews on steam are complaining about the music, too much clutter (the huge forest on liberty island), mouse acceleration you can't turn off, and it being very dark (as in too dark shadows ).
