I had saved up about 2K$ and was going to commission a 2 x 1 foot stained glass window of the TDM logo all stylised, but the person who was going to do it, went out of business. I've since spent that money on my house, but it was going to be a reward for a massive competition I was planning to put together. :(

 

I would settle for a TDM mug at this point though lol.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

I would suggest asking a legal bod before looking too hard at merchandising, if you are giving it away free or just charging to cover costs you might be OK but any hint of profit or IP infringement could attract SE's attention.

 

For example using "Taffer" on a T shirt would probably get their attention as it's recognisably Thief, you want something specific to TDM.

 

Basically SE leave TDM alone because TDM isn't affecting SE's profits, if TDM starts making money, however little, that SE think should be theirs, you can expect a change in attitude.

SE is not leaving TDM alone out of the goodness of their heart. They're doing it because we have carefully followed the legal requirements to not infringe on their IP in any way.

Why? Cool shirt nice design and advertising. Good conversation piece for anyone talking to while wearing it. Those kinda tgings.

Merchandise does not make much sense as we are not a company. But obviously everyone is free to create stuff on their own (for example to donate it to contest winners or similar).

It doesn't make sense to have a business plan selling it, but it makes sense to give fans something to get to show their fandom. And it may be reasonable to pay for the cost of production and postage at least. Donating would be more in line with our culture though.

 

Incidentally, TTLG sells tshirts and mugs to pay for website costs, and they're often a guide for what's kosher. So I think it'd be ok if there's a real need, but since our website costs are already covered then there's no need to do it either and it's much better to be non-profit about it, but in any event especially for a fan doing it themselves.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

We've had more than one thread about people wanting to make TDM hoodies or shirts...wasn't someone working on a vector-based version of the logo for that purpose once upon a time?

Can I get a yes or no for who would want one besides Springheel and myself? Obviously, there would be no cost involved save for postage / delivery of the shirt. It would be coming from USA. I want to make a list to have rough idea how many I'd ask to have printed.

 

I own DOOM + QUAKE shirts and posters, HEXEN poster. Games used to come with posters or ads to order a shirt.

 

It's just a way to get the word out and have a cool shirt or whatever. I'd like to have a TDM mug to drink my coffee from! It's enjoyment based. I enjoy TDM enough that wouldn't mind sporting the brand and be a walking advertisement.

 

Even wallpapers, fan art, fits along these lines...

 

So one shirt for and and SH.

 

2 shirts total. Please reply with yes, no or how many or whatever so I can update list.

I was sure I could find the font used for "The Dark Mod" and while there were some close ones I couldn't find a perfect match. The next best thing is a vector image so you'll find dm_text.svg on my OneDrive...

I've got a 3D modeled version I put a little work into around the same time that I did the vector version above. I never bothered to share it previously because I considered it unfinished but I'll add it to the OneDrive above in case it's of use to someone.

It needs more greebles and widgets in the background. The font isn't a match. It could use some tick marks on the face and it's completely untextured.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh?       I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
