I have weird performance issues. I have 8-15 fps all the time. I once loaded and had 60 fps, then quicksaved and it went down back to 12 or so.

The previous WHQL driver from Nvidia had some strange performance issues, are you on the latest driver?

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

What are you systen specs..?

GTX 750 Ti, i5, 8 GB RAM

are you on the latest driver?

I'm using latest driver.

I have found a weird fix. For some reason alt-tabbing couple of times helps. Doing so brings back 60 FPS.

It's only a model...

I have intense fun with this mission; found five secrets and seem to do well so far.

But there is a problem which keeps annoying me and now I want to give up;

please assist me by provide the

4-digit combination for the jeweler's goods.

I have read the note on the desk, I have eyed the painting in the sleeping room.

I tried combinations that seemed to make sense.

I researched the painting, it's painter, and a bit of English history.

I feel the problem is ambiguous: "People that died that day" - it would be ONE on the painting, but it would be TWO

historically, because not only the woman, but also her husband were executed that day.

I contemplated the other four hints in the picture and historical context under different aspects, and failed miserably.

I am probably outrageously over-thinking the whole thing, but one fact remains: I fail to open the display tubes for the jewelry.

Help!

Well, it certainly feels different to your standard thieving affair.

I need a hint to progress, where is the key for the mechanism in Griswald's secret area?

I would have put in a nudity disclaimer if I were you.

The loot in John's exhibit becomes unfrobable if you bring the casings down before grabbing them.

I look forward to finishing :)

General hint

Try checking around the front of Griswolds house

More specific hint

try checking in his dining room

Exact location

In his dining room there is a frobable grandfather clock, frob that and then frob the button on the back. A door will open, crawl into that space and the key is on the desk there

The mission is now available via the in-game downloader. I'll leave the link in the OP up for those that want it but if you're having issues with mega just use the ingame downloader to obtain the mission.

Now for a review of this gem of a mission.

The first, bigger, part is a classic thief mission, beginning in a cramped, poorer environment where you work yourself up from "socially";

a break and entering of a three-story Noble's house with a lot of thievery to do.

This environment is artistically diverse, has cleverly placed secrets and a believable, immersion-providing, socially function-able setup:

Servants quarters, washrooms, libraries, offices, kitchens, living rooms - all there and well composed together.

The environment is highly detailed and skillfully and immersively crafted - never I had the impression of just walking through boxed space

someone made in an editor. Not few special places exist that are a treasure nugget of beauty - for example the garden, the "smoking garden" next

to the bathroom, the Hammerite chapel's window in the rafters, the big tree in the fog among others - I found myself to stop there for a while and just

marvel at the pleasantly shaped environment.

While thief missions certainly do not lack in crime, they do lack in sex; not here.

Secretly watching naked attractive people bathing and to wallow in a bit of totally healthy voyeurism is not unwelcome;

not that I (or most people) would admit to such little pleasures outside the anonymity of the forum, but good food gets even better

with a bit of spice. Movie producers know this and prevent a lack of unclothed attractive people in most Movies. Sex and Crime is a very fundamental

entertainment concept for good a reason.

Speaking of Movies, this mission had a very distinctive quality for me: The first, main part felt much like I was the protagonist in a heist Movie:

You know the type, a thief or group of thieves overcoming security and working themselves up into some vault or casino; climbing through

ventilation systems and exploiting security mechanisms. Using pipes in a maintenance shaft to climb around is a sound, classical idea. Maybe the central

element of the elevator and the robbing of apartments/a casino/illegal-drugs den added to that special flair.

I do not know if it was a deliberate attempt at humor, but I had a good laugh when I saw the dead spider on its back next to the shovel in the kitchen

storage room: Those two objects lying there just tell a story of a heroic clubbing - it must have been kind of heroic, because what looks like a 20-pound

dead spider certainly would have taken a lot of agitated "shovel action" to convert it into what could be called SSS - spider safe state (Little rats in

the kitchens of the rich would be unwelcome - it is open to imagination what the discovery of a big-dog-sized spider will incite in such a household; good thing there are

big shovels kept.)

The top, third level with casino and other facilities was the highlight of the mission - many little subplots here and even quite a bit of access to external buildings on the side.

A secondary means of getting around is in place through the vents, which connect all the rooms - very useful for ghosting, as the guards up here seemed to be

especially alert and challengingly patrolling.

A unique special aspect of this mission is the crafty narrative shift of the story by the Alien loot (and further "supernatural" developments)- it suddenly expanded on the story's setting

outer boundaries - from a kind of cozy and quaint, urban, medieval or steam punk setting into something suddenly much bigger that left me wondering what those outer boundaries could be -

Space Aliens interacting for some reason with an medieval "humanity"? Will be become "special agents" applying our thievish skills for some matter of interplanetary import? Whatever it is, the

narrative potential and spatial understanding suddenly explode from "We are existing in a medieval setting" into "We still are in a medieval setting but there is much more out there."

That is quite a bit of spin for a thief mission - and it is executed in style (no sudden "modernist" change of setting like space ships - things stay vague, and that works well, because

one's imagination gets triggered - one of the best things an author can do with his audience).

To the end the mission introduces ANOTHER change of setting and scenery, a bit occult, a bit Indiana-Jones like, exploration, catacombs, old kings, a bit of a castle, a bit of the suspense

of a horror Movie- and it fits very well together!

Great use of scripted scenes, clearly understandable voice recordings (I am no native English speaker and understood everything well, in some other missions voice recordings have a

tendency to be mumble that can be hard to understand).

Technically and narratively a mission that comes rather close to perfection in contemporary mission design, in my opinion.

At any rate one of the very best missions ever authored.

Thank you for that very in depth review! To me the best part of FM making is hearing what people think of all of these ideas and concepts that have been in the making for months or years.

This mission has gone through many iterations over the course of it's development but the one constant is I love to create an atmosphere and a sense of exploration. One good piece of constructive criticism I learnt from my previous mission comments were that people liked the world but wanted it more fleshed out. Here as you can tell I have done just that, and the skills I've learned from detailing AC2 will carry over into my future projects.

With my series I really want to explore the realm of fantasy and the limitless boundries it has to offer and I feel The Accountant 2 is a step in the right direction of exploring that.

Thank you for playing and thank you for the great review!

Great mission despite i had to

noclip around the red light into the kitchen vent because that bastard decided to camp at the vent and i already spent my noisemaker to evade the red light on the appartment building's second floor.

Was i supposed to "kill" em somehow?

No he's not meant to be killable, also he shouldn't have stopped infront of the vent either.

The plan with that scene was to sneak around him

Thanks for playing!

This is just awsome, and huge. Many thanks to all contributors. I really liked, how reading/frobbing stuff triggered events.

Bugs(?) I observed:

1.: When the Greenwalds (or whatever the name is) sleeping servants run out of the appartment the game crashes

2.: At the end of the Mission, after the title credit sequence, the screen remains black. I suppose, the mission debriefing should trigger, but it does not. I can hear the "objective complete" bell and i can hear myself jump when I jump.

What I did not find out yet:

1: Where/How do I complete the pagan orb ritual? How do I trigger the dream situation?

2: I could only find 3 of the red gems. Maybe this is related to the second "bug" above

Glad you enjoyed the mission! Thank you for playing :)

bugs

1) Thought I had solved that bug, that obviously shouldn't happen

2) The mission should have definitely ended after the credit sequence, I just double checked the objectives and it shouldn't be possible to reach the endgame area without it being possible to end the mission so i'm not sure what happened there.

things you did not find out yet

1) You complete the pagan orb ritual by going into the cultists attic (which can be found by going to the top floor balcony, jumping to the window ledge, going downstairs, opening the vent on the wall, going up through that house to the attic). In there you will find the orb which needs to be taken back to the mages apartment and dropped into the pot.

Exact location of the orb

Once in the attic place your back to the chest where you can read the ritual book on Ojun the God of shadows, to your right you will see some boxes with a little way in to lean behind them.. the pagan orb is in there.

[/spoiler

2) There are only 2 red gems in the mission, where did you find the third? regardless they don't effect the mission completing

I'm glad you enjoyed the mission and i'm sorry you had those issues. I haven't heard from anyone else who has finished the mission that they've had those issues so hopefully it's just a limited problem.

I knew there was nudity because the first thing I did before even installing it was cracking open the pk4 to see if it had any custom assets I might want to pilfer, and I saw the model name. I guess normally I wouldn't do that, but an FM this size does make one curious.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Killing the bastard:

He is (rather easily) killable. Let him see you, and flee into the elevator. He is not able to enter the elevator. He will withdraw his sword to throw stuff at you. Attack him in that moment with your sword. Eventually he dies

I was refering to John

Regarding the bugs:

I am on Ubuntu 14.04, TDM is 2.03, if that helps

I could provide you with a gamesave (not sure via what medium)

Thank you very much for your help (and this mission ;-) )

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
